Oh, my goodness! This is so creative and had so many ebbs and flows. Poor Timmy - not just for having fallen in the well, but for having such a redneck gun-toting Grampa!! I have two questions - what happened to Timmy's Dad, and did Timmy ever get out?

Timmy's dad was disced to death in a farming accident. Believe it or not, it is not uncommon. Rocks get caught in the discs and with the tractor left running, jarring the rock loose can kick the tractor into gear.
Presumably, Timmy is discovered the next day.
As far as gun-toting, every farmer has a varmint gun handy, especially those with chickens.

This is true. I thought something like that may have happened to Timmy's Dad. Farming is inherently dangerous.

This is an excellent story for the challenge. Your ending was thought provoking and as a reader I can only hope for the best. I enjoyed the dialogues and detailed descriptions you provided throughout. On the Greek Island where he was born,my own dad literally fell in a well as a baby. He was not harmed but the man who rescued him broke every bone in his body. So, very possibly, Timmy would have survived that.

Best wishes

Alex

    Thank you.
And thank you for the suggestions.
A disc is a farm implement used to break up the clumps after plowing and before planting. It is extremely hazardous to farmers who attempt to dislodge rocks. Jarring the tool too much can cause a tractor to kick into gear, mauling the man. (They don't like to shut the tractor off in case it won't restart out in the middle of a field.)
