I don't know why I am reading this so late that I have no sixes left!! Consider a virtual six! I am so sorry for all of your misery and so glad you found a year respite with this couple. Otherwise, you may not have been able to go on with your life in any way. I so hope there were times of empathy and caring that helped you establish a reason to believe in good again. Excellent writing. ann

This was a very powerful and moving part to your story, Lea. The built up horror and rage and sadness and unfairness of your life came pouring out like never before in the arms of this kind lady. You presented this so well, including your poem at the beginning where you exemplify the ironies and contradictions in life which served to parallel your own contradictions--how a beautiful, talented girl could be subjected to such cruel torture and debasement through absolutely no fault of her own and how she still carried a feeling of guilt about it.
It's wonderful that you got to spend a year with this family and feel safe for once in your life, but the fact that it was only a year in all of your 17 or 18 that you were able to feel this way just underscores how cruel and difficult your life had been up to that point.
I hope your foot is healing well so there is one less negative to think about as you go through those boxes with your sisters. - Jim

There are, of course, a few punctuation issues going on. Here is one:

As your emotion pours out here, Lea, so too do I have a sense of huge relief and catharsis. At last you've found your much needed respite, for however long, and in the meantime you can regain some of your strength and equilibrium. You're in safe hands. I like the addition of P here who balances the emotion and stops it becoming too overwhelming. Be careful with sentences that run into each other: first 5 lines of second para. I'd be inclined to break that into 2 sentences. But this is an exceptional piece of writing. I think your foot is getting much better:) Take care Debbie x
