Wow! People actually use toothpaste???!!!-only kidding. I enjoyed your words very much. What you described, I'm not, but my wife, now passed on, wasn't much of aq fussbudget either, though much better than I. We both worked with adults who had OCD, and believe me, that was a challenge in itself!

We live in a house that's 80 years old and gave up on perfection a long time ago. What a wonderfully written poem and I love the people it pokes at. Congrats on the win!
Have a great day, and God bless.

I liked this poem. Rhyming scheme was good. Picture matches nicely with the words. I have a friend who is OCD and struggles quite alot. Very good job

Yes, it's definitely not easy. I've had a couple students with the affliction, and it's pretty heartbreaking.

Do you teach ? I taught for 18 years and now I'm retired
reply by the author on 29-Jan-2024
Yes! I'm a private voice, flute and piano teacher with seventy students whom I visit weekly in their homes. What did you teach, and do you miss it? I'm going to be 68 this year, and I can't fathom retiring. I just love it too much. I'd be sad every minute without the connection and watching the blossoming and the adorable vignettes they bestow.

I was a special education. Teacher. I really miss working with the students. I will be 68 in March.

Do you do any volunteer work with kids? In my town, we have a program called G-2, which stands for two generations. Seniors are paired one-on-one with kindergarteners for THE best two hours of the week. (three kindergarteners, half-hour per, plus a 30-minute sharing of our experiences with the facilitator and the other volunteers)

Wow, that sounds neat. Where do you live? How did you find out about it ?

I live in Upstate NY; East Rochester. I think I saw it on our East Rochester FB page and applied.

So then, we're actually neighbors!! How's your snow at the moment? Have you been getting it right along? Ours has been so sparse this entire "winter." We have some now, but only a few inches.
reply by Brenda Strauser on 29-Jan-2024
We did have snow last week we got about 3 inches. But the last few days it has been raining

To show you my OCD, I see that this one only had 23 reviews and it needs to reach All Time Best so here's my effort even though it was for last year. But for housework, I don't have the OCD problem. Lol.
Congratulations on the win!!

You are the sweetest of the sweet friends, Helen. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and the generosity with your time for a piece that has long passed its expiration date. This is why I love and respect you SO very much. xoxox

Oh my stars, Rachelle!
This poem is "seriously" too funny!
I can see why you won!
I, too, am a "fussbudget;" however, my three little grandsons put all of my "fussbudgetry" in perspective! (Going to be cleaning up from Christmas until Easter!)

Much enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing!

I know your fussbudget soul, for it mirrors mine. It's part of our myriad common bonds!

Thanks for the terrific review. Now get back to cleaning! xo

I enjoyed this summary of OCD with humor throughout. I know people who have different kinds of OCD, and I must say, this is an accurate description. Clever and humorous. I enjoyed this very much.

I liked the fact that, in these hyper-sensitive, oh-so politically correct times, this kind of contest was even offered! I think a big part of the problem today is that nobody laughs anything off. Everything is always SOOOOOO SEEEEEEERIOUS!! Oy! Laugh at it, and it takes away a lot of its negative hold over you!

Anyway, thank you for this very nice review. I couldn't appreciate it more. xo

LOL
I especially loved the 'CDO' comment. My husband has a t-shirt with that exact sentiment. You see, I live in a household with two OTHER OCD'rs. And we won't even discuss my daughter's alphabetized DVDs.
Your poem flows well, and it hit things right on the head.
Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest,
~MP~

You're welcome. (I have my DVD's in alphabetical order, too...and my books and CD's and all my sheet music and the books I use for my piano students. My husband shakes his head, but I say, "I'd rather spend my time playing/listening to the music than looking for it."

Thanks for your words of understanding and support! Very much appreciated. xo

I'm wondering if this is fiction or nonfiction. I like the rhyming poetic verses in your poem. It has lots of household skills that apply to everyday activities. Good luck in the contest.

It's fiction. I'm a little bit of a fussbudget, but I don't have this affliction. It's supposed to be a humorous contest entry about a serious subject.

I am a diagnosed OCD person. I could visualize every single line. I was confused about one word, though, relax. What is this? Seriously, this was great. Nice to have a poem dedicated to me. Lol. Great poem. Good luck in the contest. You've got my vote. Gretchen

Your poem is very humorous, and so is your author note. OCD can be a serious issue and debilitating to some, but you came up with a great way of adding humor to it. I was a horrible child, my father had some of these issues though not cleaning. He would stack coins, or line up shoes etc. and I would go mess it up just to annoy him. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest!

HAHAHAHA. I love naughty children like that; I honestly do. They're way more fun than the little goodie-two-shoes types.

I also love this review. Thanks for the validation and kind words. Very much appreciated.
