You tell your story so well with amusing and totally believable illustrations. I enjoyed this from the first word to the last. I am certain that anyone who has been married for a long time will find this delightfully relatable. I did, for sure. Congratulations on fifty years of success. I think Elise deserves a medal - and a long service medal at that, for putting up with a man of such an earthy sense of humor. Are you sure you're not a Brit, Jim? Some of your ideas are distinctly Anglo-Saxon!

Congratulations to both of you for the 30th. Thank you, too for your book, which I am looking forward to. I haven't opened 90% of my cards and presents yet, because of my illness. BUT today, my great friend Derek, frustrated by my useless ancient phone, decided to give me a brand new Samsung Galaxy AO4. It's worth more than my car!

Thanks so much, Paul. I would agree whole-heartedly that Elise deserves a medal for her mettle in putting up with me. I do have about 10% of me that's Scotch-Irish (if that qualifies as a Brit).

You've read a few of the poems in the book, but quite a few were before your time on FanStory, so I hope you will enjoy them.

So glad you're doing better after that harrowing experience of your illness. Stay well.

Happy anniversary! I enjoyed your tale of romance and matrimony. "Well, I annoy her often, and she annoys me occasionally, so I guess that averages out to 'sometimes.'" I loved that line. You clearly have a good sense of humour, and a deep fondness for your wife. I thought this was well-written.

This is funny and I bet Elise will save it for the length of your relationship: "I must have even shined my shoes to try to impress her because she never fails to mention to anyone we tell this story to how shiny my shoes were as I stood there groveling, though I have no clear memory of having done so."
