Hmmm...Doug's gettin' a dawg huh? I thought you did already get a dang dawg for company ages ago after you got sick of the darn dames and their antics lol.
So what yer sayin is, for a touch of touche we little darlins' may now just have to approach things a little differently?

Ahem...
Woof.

I think in order to solve ourselves we need to forgive other nice people for their careless mistakes. It is the right approach. Excellent work! Thank you for sharing!

Well, my friend, maybe it's time to get a dog! There's something about them...the unconditional love, unequaled devotion, desire to please. And love! They are capable of such enduring love!

Great poem, greater message,
Rhonda

Hello My Old Friend:

Well Vic, you have penned a very interesting series of thoughts.

It sounds like you are going through a very lonely time in your life. If that is true, I am very sorry. However, if you have chosen getting a dog over a beautiful, sexy, female woman, well, my friend, there is a serious problem here.

I too am a dog lover, have been since I was a young lad. "Most" women just love dogs. If your dog is well manored and lovable, take him to the grocery store the next time you go, maybe, just maybe some good looking woman will start a conversation with you about your dog and before you know it you will have a woman and a dog. Never to be alone againe....

Everyone needs someone they can talk to Vic...I wish you the very best my friend...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...Bill

This free verse poem describes something that all of us, especially after the pandemic, can relate to: the need for some form of physical intimacy, not necessarily romantic, but simply as an affirmation that we exist beyond ourselves and are connected to other loving things. "We are all/so bereft/of touch" expresses this simply, poignantly, and beautifully.

Thank you. I, obviously, agree. It is amazing the power of a hug.

    Merry Christmas,

That is a nice poignant poem about wanting a dog. DId you ever get a dog?
There are so many people with dogs here in Korea now a days and they seem to treat them better than they treat their own children,

Dogs are great, Victor. We had dogs for many years, but when we got older, we opted out. Our sons and grandsons have dogs, and we encourage them to bring them when they visit.

Dogs are the best companions and they love you regardless. My dog is current pregnant. She is due for a week of january. Your problem is very nice and very longing is full of longing. Very well written and it's a fine submission too I see no issues with grammar esthetic subject matter or Is sentence structure. I wish you a fine holiday a great new year and a wonderful evening!

-Love your title and the picture, Doug.
-A nice presentation, as well.
-I always like the reflective
nature of your poems.
-I like how you begin this poem as
you describe the Great Room
and orange leather sofa.
-I like the verse about the
"dancing, flickering light."
-The closing verses about the
dog and having a companion
to touch are very good, and show
what has been missing in your life,
not necessarily a dog, but true companionship.
-I hope you get the dog, and then share
a picture and write about it!

I'm glad you are smiling. You are very welcome, and Merry Christmas, as well. Will a new puppy be under the tree in a cozy little basket with sweet eyes looking up at you?

Hi Victor, And now you've got a dog to bring home. Isn't that a lovely feeling? At least that's how I read your poem.
I wouldn't be without my dog. She's a lovely companion and company as well. Ulla:)))
