Wonderful poem! I love the sentiment throughout. And on one point I just had to laugh... I kept asking my parents for an older brother Michael for years. They never would explain to me why that just wasn't gonna happen! We laugh about it now. I agree with what you said in your note, Christ is who we celebrate, but family is His picture of love on earth. Very much enjoyed this.

I loved how you compared the negative with the positive. It really brings to light how one can be thankful even compared to what they perceive as just the negatives in their lives.

You did a nice job here, Austin. I loved the flow of your words and the warmth emanating from them. It's obviously you're steeped in family life and values.
The one suggestion I would make is to change the color of that one silver line because it was nearly impossible to read against the read background.

I am a huge fan of free verse, a very big fan. I understood long ago when I joined that free verse was my niche.
It is not that I cannot write other form of poetry, I do and can but free is my favorite.
I have been here since 2098 and have a lot of work but I have disabled it ge cause I took a much needed break from this time consuming place.
Back to your poem. It speaks volumes and it showcases your well developed emotional maturity.
Healing your soul from the icy anguish of the irks is so very well articulated and the and three ending lines- superb.
Thank you for sharing. Keep writing and I can see you only get better as time and experience goes by.
You write better that quite a few long in the tooth on this site. Impressive.
