That is a hilarious story. I liked reading it. Alexa definitely has a selective hearing process, or something like that. The sound-alikes it comes up with are often funny, too. Thank you for the author notes. Congratulations on your award, too!

    Thank you Diane, Many people ask that a song be played and if it isn't something they have in stock. Alexa always says "I'm sorry I don't know that one."

Lol...that's technology for you! That's really great and a valid point too I think it might have happened one or two people! I see no issues with esthetics, subject matter or set the structure. Amazing submission and a good job and spark and clever too have the best day!

AI, a wave of the future hate to see coming. Alexa is supposed to be able to almost communicate like people do. How unfortunate. If mankind not careful guess what will replace humans? AI. Goes to prove AI not as intelligent as some people make it out to be.

    Thank you Brett. I don't think they are all that intelligent yet. People tell me Google is smarted than Alexa, but she the one that plays music that helps me sleep.

    Thank you. I'm glad you like it. It is a Amazon product so maybe you don't have Amazon there. I did't make up this story but you have to word the question write for her to know how to anwer. She thought I was asking her to play a song by that name ane she didn't have anything like that on file. She can play most story anyone has ever heard off.

This eighty-word flash fiction story, New Song Title, reminds me of my wife and Alexa. She will try to engage the device in conversation every so often. It will eventually lead to an "I'm sorry".

Alexa is a very intelligent mechanism that allows us to play music when we request the tune. When it starts talking for no reason, it is a scary apparatus.

This is amusing. Since it is fiction, I assume you don't have that book out yet. When Alexa answered you, it almost seems like she thinks it is a joke she doesn't know. If you do have that book out, this is a novel way to announce it. Congratulations.

    Thank you Carol, It has to be listed as flashfiction for the contest, but it actually happened. I don't always word my questions right when I talk to Alexa. The book came our last week and I was shocked when she asked if I wanted to purchase it.

Lol! That poor Alexa was just parsing the question, "Do you know" and just answering as if the rest of the sentence was a title of a book. I never had one of those and I'm glad you have it to remind you of your own books! Best wishes in the contest!

    I enjoy the Alexa but she is always wrong about the weather. She usually tells me it is raining right now and will stop in 10 minutes or no rain is expected. I can call on her to play soft music when I have trouble sleeping. Thanks for the review.
