I can relate to every detail of your story. I have felt all these emotions at one time or another. We have moved eleven times in our 53 years of marriage, three of those moves were in New Orleans.

Thank Ginda. I've moved that much too if you count temporary situations that on lasted a month of so. Moving isn't fun. Thanks for the great review.

I keep thinking about putting our house up for sale after living in it for nearly 36 years as it's far too big for 2 of us but It's such a big decision. I'm glad you got the price you wanted and were able to relocate.

Thank you Wendy. It isn't as hard to sell by owner as realtors would have you believe, and they do get a chuck of your sale with relatively little work. A bank or title company will walk you through what has to be done, but you do need to know the market value of your house and determine if your buyer is qualified to pay your price. Moving is not fun. It is a lot of work. I need to get in something smaller too, but the thought of the work involved at my age is too much.

I can remember when we put a house we wanted to sell in God's hands we sold that house for exactly the amount the Lord told us to sell it for, unadvertised the man offered the exact mount that God had, told us, with him knowing that amount, right down the last cent, well done, blessings Roy

I know the God had His hand in this as well because we really believed we would need $90,000 in order to pay cash for the house we would buy in Chattanooga. It was just the right amount and I sold it the last day we were in New Orleans. We were leaving the next morning

Aw, Beth, I can understand it must have been an emotional moment to leave behind a place that held so many memories. I so enjoy reading this, and it's so well written. Ulla xx

Thank you again Ulla. I always feel emotional when I know things are changing and bridges are burning. It was that way when I cleaned out my parents home an sold it. Sometimes you do things for the last time ane don't realize it until later but when it is obvious, it is time to shed a tear.

Teary eyes were certainly a natural reaction to leaving a home of seventeen years. Having watched the children grow up, knowing things would never be the same again. But who knows, maybe better. LOL. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had another star.

Thank you, Ric. Things are sometimes better and sometimes worse. Life is like a yoyo. It goes up and down. We all need to wash our eyes out with a few tears occasionally. Thanks for the review. It always nice to see you here.

Very busy and chaotic times.
Selling by owner is not easy. And timing, unless you are rich, never works perfectly. And some realtors are no better than the worst used car salesmen - out for themselves, only.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. We've sold and bought by owner several times and each time it has gone more smoothly that sales we've done with realtors. I resent the big commissions, and the fact the sale often falls through. Maybe I've deal with the wrong realtors.

Well, a sad goodbye to New Orleans. I will miss tales of a place I would so like to visit - but is it very commercialised now? And well done on your house price negotiations. Quite the hard-nosed business-woman!

Thank you for the great review. I don't know what New Orleans is like now. I haven't had a chance to return since Katrina destroyed so much of the city. The historic areas weren't damaged that much so I'm sure it retains a lot of it's unique charm.

I can completely relate to the tears. My tears happened when I cleaned out my parents' house for sale after their deaths, which was an incredibly emotional experience. The house had belonged to my grandparents before it was passed down to my parents, so it was a giant emotional wrench to leave it for the last time. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for the review and comments. I had some very emotional moments when I cleaned our my parents house too. It is like reliving your parent's deaths and giving up something you've known all you life all rolled into one.

Buying and selling houses is a trial and we were let down by a few prospective buyers 20 years ago when we were selling our house in England. Property is less expensive in the US. I am glad you were able to show that Agent that you could sell your own house. Sometimes they talk the talk but don't come up with the goods. It is a cut-throat business to be in. I enjoyed your fine story Beth, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly. I appreciate the review and comments. It depends or where in the US as to prices. New York and California have very expensive real estate. Also that was years ago. Things have gone way in value everwhere.

Moving is always sad/happy. On to new things, new chances, but good memories grab hold of us and pull as well. You write with feelings and describe things well. When we sold our house, one realtor wanted us to sell for $55,000. We sold it ourselves for $125,000.

Good for you. They always try to make out like if you trying selling it yourself you'll. We've always done better without involveing an agent.
I appreciate the review and comments.

I have had one decent realtor over the years, but most put themselves first. Karen
