I can always depend on starting my day with a laugh or an opinion worth hearing when I read your work! I went to the same kind of Baptist Church as a child and disagreed with all the man-made "thou shalt nots" I heard. Love dancing, drank until I was old and taking medication that didn't mix well, and still smoke. I'm going to die of something (I'm 82) and at least I'll die a little happier if I have just had a cigarette! I love your attitudes and your writings.

LOL, Judith, thank you for the six stars! I agree. Let's go as long and hard as we can. Terry.

I love this for its good writing, humor, honesty, and letting us into your head at Christmas.
I tried to demonstrate which part I enjoyed the most, but it is impossible to choose when I enjoyed each scattered shot.
So I guess giving you a six for this gem will speak for me.
Merry Christmas Terry

Interesting and endearing narrative. It sort if gave me the feeling of a visit with an older relative or family friend who is just sharing little anecdotes from their life. Thanks for sharing. Well done.

I have never heard of Scatter Shooting but it seems interesting. Like a gang/banger with an uzi in his hand.
I think the old chair is a guy thing. Most of us have one.
The cat video was a little scary. Ha!
Christmas has turned into a hassle. This I that is a woman thing.
Merry Christmas, Terry!

As an old coot myself, I can relate to your writing, except for the football games, I don't have any interest in them. Your short story is hilarious, and I loved every word. I agree, I'm glad when the insurance people finally go away for another year.

Thank you very much for your review, and have a happy holiday season. Terry.

This is an enjoyable romp through an old coot's head during the holiday season. I love the idea of dancing turning into fornication. It is so absolute and final. This idea was brought to life when the movie with Kevin Bacon was about a teenager who wanted to dance in a High School filled to the brim with Baptists. I loved the movie not so much the crazy idea that one necessarily leads to the other.

Yes, I am back on FS and back home as well. They sent me home less than a week to recuperate at home. I am so happy.
Merry Christmas, Terry!

I love how your short story is based on Christ. I am so happy for you that you got baptized, and I was so impressed with some things you have done, including quitting smoking for over 40 years! On another note, I am so, so sorry your wife passed away. She would definitely be proud of you for bringing your feelings and grief and allowing the entire FanStory community to find peace in it. Nice work!

I don't know whether your writing or the fact that you hit home with me on about everything you wrote earned my six. Christmas has it's pros and cons. I used to wish I didn't always have to be somewhere or with a house full of people. But these days, with no one to talk to, I answer myself, and then spend the rest of the day wondering if I was right or wrong. I just hope someone has a nice thought about me, and I'll have a nice thought about you, football, and basketball. Merry Christmas, and the Happiest New Year ever!

LOL, I talk to myself, too. But it never occurred to me I might be wrong. Dang, now I got to think about that. I'll do so with a glass of Gentlemen Jack in my hand. Thank you for the six stars, and happy games with good results for your guys! Terry.

I don't know what happened with your Cowboys against the Bills. But I expect them to bounce back with a fury. You'll have your Gentleman Jack, and I'll have my Blanton's.

Cheers!

Hey Terry--
You know, I am certain, that you're not alone sitting in that favorite old chair and reminiscing. Zoe is right there in your heart, and I can't think of a brighter Christmas decoration than your loving memories of her.
Tears in the eyes of this old marshmallow, now. I loved your singing, I love your meandering, witty, warm humorous, and very moving "confession" to the world.
Cheers, my friend - enjoy tonight's 7 PM sip of the spirits. I'll clink my glass with yours any day. (Just hoping some of your talent rubs off!)
Merry Christmas Terry! Best wishes for 2024! I checked with "The Boss" and He informs me you're far away from any expiration date!

The thing I enjoy most about your writing is your conversational tone, as though you're sitting in a living room speaking directly to your listener. You humorously write of things that resonate with readers of a certain vintage, though understandable by all generations. I had to pause and laugh when you said you quit smoking forty years ago, but quit drinking last night. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece.
