Very clever! This reflection on murmuration (swarm or hive behaviour) is a lovely metaphor about the co-operation of a community for mutual benefit. It's an uplifting example of how nature exemplifies for us some of the ways that we as humans could change our behaviour for the better. Thanks for the share and good luck in the contest!

I have always wondered why they always want to go to the same place and take the same route. I am guessing Mother Nature has something to do with it. When we take a trip my husband and I always want to go a different way. LOL Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and good luck with the contest.

Intelligent creation laughs in the face of accidental evolution. Try as you might, you will never convince me that the intelligent actions of men and other life forms is accidental. If intelligence was reliant on accident, all creatures, men and animals would have equal amounts and abilities to act in an intelligent manner. History clearly displays that intelligence is not equal even among like life forms.

Such a lovely Haiku poem dear Debbie...I remember once taking loads of photos of tons of birds flying in perfect formation...
It was so amazing to see.
I wish you the very best of luck in the contest,
Lisa, getting cold here in Spain

Loved your picture and your word play of "stellar" for the starling murmurations! And I see other birds like our red-winged blackbirds which do the same kind of thing. It's really stunning! Best wishes in the contest!

By the way, since Shakespeare wrote of starlings, someone imported starlings here and so we now have a great population of that nonnative species.

Three uses of the word Stellar, primary, prevailing, and as a pun for the bird. Well-chosen word to use in the last line of the haiku. The swarm of birds scares predators as well as people who might try to shoot them for sport or food. This shows a spectacular view to the naked eye of how large the swarms can get.

Yes, Debbie, They are amazing. They must have some sort or built in radar or some warning device to retain the close formation. I have always marveled at their talent and the beauty of the dance. Well done. Nancy:)

So I had to Google it, and apparently they fly this way for warmth and to exchange "best restaurant" reviews. Nature is pretty awesome, as is your Haiku:-)

Ha ha! I like that little note! They're so incredible I wouldn't be surprised. Whoever used the derogatory 'bird brain' should think again. As ever, thanks for your kind support, Pam. Take care Debbie xos

I didn't that the formation was called before but when I see these brid doing the amazing skills without crashing into each other I truely amazed. I can't imagine how they move so quickly and actually paint designsand often the shape of single bird in the sky. I really like your haiku.

Thank you so much, Beth! they really seem to have some incredibly ability to avoid collision and swerve out of the way. Anyone who used the derogatory remark of 'bird brain' should think again. As ever, I'm truly grateful for your kind support. Take care Debbie x
