Murmurations are wonderful and your swirling words do them justice. Nicely done Debbie. I am still yet to see a large murmuration but Im aiming for a loca one near me fairly soon and to experience the one which roosts under Brighton Pier - and to experience this from the water where you can feel the rhythm of their stirring wings brushing our head, although clearly that will be pretty chilly in Feb/March. I wonder if you have them in Swansea.
Best wishes

Hi Debbie, I came in rather late on this haiku poem. But I thought I would rather like to give it a review, anyway. I loved it and it's a great haiku for the contest. All the best of luck Ulla xcx

I have seen the starlings fly some incredible formations, the way they swoop as one, they turn, duck and dive, they give us such a fascinating show. They are incredible. I didn't know they were called a murmuration. I've learnt something today. Your haiku fits this picture perfectly. Well done! Good luck in the contest. Sandra xxx

Comment from Gloria ....
The artwork is well done shaped like a bird. Birds are fascinating to observe and very quick to learn too.
I think your words bring together this phenomenon quite well.
Wishing you great luck with the Contest Committee. :)

United for the greater good should be a goal that comes naturally to humans- and not just birds. It us amazing the lessons we can learn from nature. Great sentiments expressed here.

Hi Debbie!
I have never heard of the word murmurations so was estates to learn a new word!
Humans tend to huddle like this in combat which gets people killed. I found that interesting.
Most enjoyable Haiku. This is a contender!

Yes, you're right. it doesn't always work. I think I was dwelling more on mental unity and cooperation. It certainly works for the birds though as they're small and need the protection of the group. Thanks for your thoughtful review, Doug. Take care Debbie

This is a very well written haiku poem you have penned about these lovely birds and their formation. You used great descriptive words and very lovely imagery of the birds in flight. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri
