You really created an eerie, unsettling atmosphere through the use of fragmented descriptions of events and scenes, very dream like, actually, surreal. The abruptness with which the narrator gets thrown out of the house by the alcoholic illustrates how fast the comfortable feelings described to set it up can just evaporate into thin air. estory

The story is definitely not over. It has just come to an end. Things were going great for a short period of time. But now, you are told to leave and not come back. You ended the story at a point that leaves the reader wondering what happened next.
Book One was quite an undertaking. You are to be congratulated for all the hard, stressful work you put into this. But at least, you no longer have to think about the things you have already written about. We will wait for Book Two and the continuation. Take your time. Relax.

The only phrasing I would change here is:
I made the roster for doing chores ..
When I first read that, I thought you were the one who physically MADE the roster.
I think what you mean is:
My name made it onto the roster for doing chores.

This is an interesting story about a person who never had a warm and welcoming home when young. Did you become a foster kid in P's house? Did the father very infrequently start drinking and tear the place apart? I don't quite get the relationship to P, but I can feel how confident you felt around P's family until the day her father went on a drinking binge.
