I love your humor. Sometimes you have to have fun with a subject. This is a clever story and at least it is not non-fiction !
Congratulations on your win.

Hi Douglas,
This is a witty look at how a criminal might pray. I don't think winning the lottery would help this guy. I think he'd probably drink it away. He seems to be praying for God to let him keep sinning. Maybe he deserves the problems his ex-wife gives him.
Congrats on placing second in the contest
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a good day and weekend
Joan

Lordy, I can just picture in my mind the cretin that would actually believe that is a prayer. Sounds more like a Christmas list. I can be honest and tell you that most of the Dear God letters I have read are boring and self-serving. Yours I truly loved. Karen

Thanks! I voted for your Story of the Month piece. Unfortunately those are mostly popularity contests. Still, it is a great honor to be selected by FS. Proud of you, my friend!

When there are blind contests I do pretty well. There are some folks who write pretty badly and they actually win solely on name. Sour Grapes Here. hahaha Karen

I enjoyed reading this comical letter to God. I couldn't help but smile. I am positive God has a sense of humor and a story to help back it up. We were stationed in Germany and a young wife, attended the Bible study I did. The family had just got into country. She told the story of how they were stationed on the west coast and her parents were on the east coast and she prayed and prayed that the next duty station would be east. We'll God sent them east, to Germany. LOL His sense of humor. I also heard about a man who got angry with God because he never won the lottery, only he never played the lottery. Good luck with the contest.

Those surprises you told are too funny. I think they could be stand alone tales themselves! Thanks, Barbara!

I knew this was meant as comical. I'm sure some of my earliest prayers resemble this one. LOL! God does have a sense of humor and a great one. Biden is president.

Sending you my best today as always and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Well done. Might just as well offer people a choice.
Very nice humor, too bad that in too many cases it's too close to the truth.
than a lot of these issues would take care of themselves - (then)
put You out - You echoed this in the next sentence.

LOL...

I use that "platypus" line too..

(Obviously God has a sense of humor!)

I like that you took this in another direction.

It reminds me of all the "eye roll" prayer requests God receives.

Pretty sure a ton of Texas Ranger fans were sending up their pleas!

Did I read 2024 is the last year for the classic Camaro production?

Let us pray this parole gets the Collector's Edition!

Funny stuff...

Love the notes, Doug, and ,yes, I did realise it was satirical but just as well to point that out:) Thoroughly enjoyed your particular take on this brief which actually had a lot of credibility amid the humour. I would put (change) your grand design. Anyway, don't be late. I'm waiting as your parole officer (previous life!) Good luck! Debbie

You took the comedy approach on this one. It sound like a letter to Santa Claus. I'm sure you reader will get a chuckle for from this. It made do well in the contest. They seem to like original approaches.

Thanks for softshoeing your submission, though you and I know, satirically or not, such pleas are raised towards heaven everyday. I think he has a call board manned by angels clearing the foolish requests to The most sincere.
