Like you, I love Willie Nelson (I guess you like him if you've written about him).
I'll never forget the time he sang with Julio Iglesias. That video is hilarious. Such a huge contrast between the two!

Well, you have done it again! This is absolutely exceptional...and I have never particularly even liked Willie Nelson. I always found him creepy and gross to look at, and I didn't like the timbre of his voice whatsoever. But this tribute poem made me re-think all of that in the biggest way. And then when I listened to the song you chose, just like that, it converted me into a fan now, too. How is that POSSIBLE?
Honestly, Deb; you are just plain magic.
These poems you write are not just flawless in their rhyme and meter, they're also extremely INTERESTING. You always capture the meat of the person who's beneath the "persona." That's why I always look forward to these reads, and I always reserve a sixth * because I know it will be worthy...and THEN some!!!

There is no doubt the man is a legend in country music as well as being an amazing songwriter. As a singer he's worked both solo, with Waylon Jennings and with the Highwaymen, Cash and Kristofferson. In my opinion one of the greats in Country Music.

Willie Nelson is a long time favorite. I read this last night but had to immerse myself in his greatest hits...you led me there!
"Golden Earrings" is hauntingly beautiful. My favorite, although I love each of his songs.
I saw him decades ago here in Mass...
Long story but I knew a guy who knew a guy working security and got to step on up into Willie's tour bus! I met him!
(If not for a contact high I might have asked for an autograph!)

Thank you so much, Karenina! This means so much to me. He's a great performer and, although, arguably, he doesn't have the finest voice, has so much passion and 'outlaw spirit' invested in it that he can beat even Elvis (in my view) with Always on my Mind. It's just mesmeralising and his fans absolutely adore him. So let's hope he can hang on a little longer. Thanks again for your wonderful words and support, Debbie x
