I am thinking there is even more of your grandmother's story as to why she was like that. Such a long-term sadness in your family's story and unfortunately you and your sister paid the price, Lea.
Cheers

Yes, I'm going to put out another fax. What I had to do to get over a lot of this pain was investigated my own family and so I did and came up with a lot of things. I will write about that and tell you my grandmother's story. My stepfather's sthey had to be done so I could try to gain some sort of perspective or understanding of what was happening without that I would be crazy. Thank you for your insight and your kindness again!

This chapter is extremely illuminating as to what some of the patterns in the family were all about. Mental illness can also include sleeping around, by the way, so there may be yet another layer to the grandmother's behavior. You mentioned to another reviewer you are actually now in your 50s, so I am wondering if this information about Oma went all the way back to World War II, or nearly so.

Yes, she left Holland with her husband after the second World War. Unfortunately, grandmother got around, she's had 9 children and 5 elementaries. Don't belong to my grandfather wrong today. A different naher church went along receptors that communicate, and hes thunder. He caught she was, so they packed up and came to Canada. She went to so much trouble to hide this from everyone. Because you build yourself, this public persona of herself is Paragon of greatness with social services, all the ceremonies and politicians in all that who came to her side all that was grown, she would be seeing as a fraud and a fake. He did anything and everything to stop that from happening. And it snowball down-the-line to me... Thank you for your very smart and insightful review. I bet nobody gets anything past you. Thank you, reading. I hope you enjoy your evening!

Hello Lea,
thanks for having the guts to bring this whole ugly story to the forefront. No one should have to endure what you did. I suppose your grandmother called you a slut in order to put some of the shame that she should have felt onto you. Perhaps she just didn't want to have you follow in her footsteps, I can't really say. I just know that the family was dysfunctional and as the plumbers like to say, shit flows downhill. It looks like you and your sisters got dumped on. I'm curious, do you and your sisters still stay in touch. Are they healing? I hope so. I wish you all the best Lea.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Hi Tom yes, I spoke to my middle sister today her and I have always been at odds. Unfortunately, she came out with some of my step father's traits, it's not her fault he just drilled it into her. My younger sister feels her own life separate from us. That she was rescued by her dad when she was young. And chose to leave that part of her life behind her although I do talk to her I spoke to her a lot my family is as you can imagine it's not a close-knit one. I'm essentially on my own and have been for a long time my whole like really but find Myself by Myself. I have been for well over 20 years.
My grandmother did not have my well-being in mind. Smart about her protecting herself reputation, and what could come of it? She cut off the documentation and cut off the aid to help us. Thank you again, my friend for your time review. That's always I'm happy to see your name come up, the scars remain however it's what you do with that pain. I think that matthrow it into something proactive, which is my goal here. Thank you again my friend hope you have an awesome night!

    Hello Lea,
While you may not be close to your sisters, perhaps in time that will change. I'm glad to hear that you've been feeling healing for twenty years. I'm sure that scars will always remain, but as you say, it's how you deal with the past that allows you to move on.
    Blessings,
    Tom

Your final psychological assessment of the conduct of your family is summed up here. At the heart of the conspiracy of silence is their secret, one that can never be revealed but which will be handed down to future generations, causing instability and mental illness. By calling you a "street slut" Oma was actually punishing you for her own wayward behaviour so that, in time, you would have no alternative than to act out that label and thus lose all credibility/agency with the authorities. "Sacrificial lambs" indeed. An exceptional write, Lea, on a complex and traumatic realisation. Debbie

Shocking reality again.
"The Color Purple" tragically happened EVERYWHERE!
I was born in Mississippi.
Poor sharecroppers were the totality of my family tree.
"The Grapes of Wrath," was reality in the rural south.
My mother and all her sisters were victims of sexual abuse from her father.
It was all they knew.
It was tradition.
Your characters would have fit right in with that community.
Thanks for sharing this reality.
I hope the tradition has been broken.

Oh my! What an enormous revelation THIS is!! Talk about the "trickle-down" theory! I knew the bad blood started with Oma, but I didn't realize to what degree or the backstory. Now it all makes so much more sense! Yikes. Well done, Lea. xoxox

Yeah, riiiiight. Do they care even a little the LIFETIME of danger she put YOU in...when you were too little to fend for yourself? Sheesh. There's a-holes everywhere, Lea. Just tune them out. Your punctuation did well.

Wow, what a powerful revelation! Oma was the slut of the family and Opa was the hero who stayed with Oma until the end to keep the family together. Well written and shows how toxic behavior will be passed on down to the next generation keeping the past alive.
I understand completely having had more than my share of dysfunctional family dynamics passed on to the next generation.
My brother is Narsisitic and my sisters are well on their way to the insane asylum. I know they don't call them that anymore but for the sake of clarity, I use the term loosely to mean they have so much mental illness between them to fill a huge lake.
Thanks for sharing your story and I will continue to read each chapter as they become available.
Jesse

Just so sad. All so sad. A cycle, a circle that we can't escape. My father was an only child who hated his mother and he visited his unhappiness on his children. And round it goes.

Such a wheel it is one generation to the next. I could see a mine and knew it had to be stopped. So from me, it's over.
But there are many of us in my family. My father is the oldest date my mother of 9.
So can't please all the people all the time so I won't.. Again I appreciate you thank you for hoping if your evening is ground john!

What a revelation, Lea! Now we begin to see the source of the dynamic going on in your family. Seems like your Oma is the source of all the foulness in your upbringing. So typical of evil people to pin their own perversion on others too, the way she called you a whore. What a toxic environment to grow up in!

I guess it's not surprising your mother is screwed up, having a mother like that. You were able to break the mold, though. As shocking as these revelations were to you, I'm glad you finally gained some understanding about your family dynamic and hopefully began to realize none of the horrible things in your life were your fault. - Jim

Okay, so this chapter feels confusing...
First of all when you went to your grandparents home did they not realize you were thin and ill and starving?
and, I find it a bit mixed up when you go back and forth between you mother and grandmother.
You say she... but who is that?

Hello, yes, I'm trying to keep names out as it were. So that's why I've done it this way. I will go back and have a read over it and try and make those areas more clear. Thank you, thank you, for pointing that out! My grandmother knew exactly what was going on at any given time. Sad to say, but the orchestrator. Thank you Lisa for reading. I hope Spain is lovely for you today. I appreciate all your comments and your thoughtful words. I hope you enjoy your day!

Yes, all I think you need to do is instead of she say mother...or grandmother... I think that would clear it up ..
The weather has turned quite a bit cooler...
Lea, are you married...do you have children... You look so young in your photo.. I am just trying to get a sense of your age..But if you feel it is none of my business I will of course understand.

Ahhhh, your fifties... so young... I am 75 years old... my photo was taken when I was 72...I too am quite well preserved.
Did you end up getting married? After all that you have gone through ... I just wonder?

I was married I had 2 sons. You have grown it on their own. My husband passed away when they were 6 and 2. I've been alone since you?
reply by Lisasview on 30-Oct-2023
Oh no, How terrible... Passed away.. must have been young...

I have been married to Bob since 1985...
I have a daughter, Heather that was born in 1970 and two grand girls.
    Do you work?
I modeled when I was younger... Then
I owned a womens' clothing store in Santa Monica for over 25 years at the same time I pursued art... and of course writing... I have been painting and writing since I was very young...
When I closed my store and moved with Bob to Texas to be closer to Heather and the family, I began an Interior Design business and also manged 55 homes that we rented out.
Finally sold everything about three years ago and started our final adventure by moving to Spain.
    Love it here,
    Lisa
