I can understand why you won. You introduced a creature who appreciated the wonders of the sea and its inhabitants. I did not think it possible but you told the entire story in one sentence and did it beautifully.
My very best regards,
Mary

Ciao poet!

You now have 6 votes.

I love animals and it pains me to see how much lethal plastic pollution we dump in their oceans.

As if that was not bad enough , we have divers , intruding habitats extremely fragile like coral reefs or people in boats bothering whales on their migration routes.

Oil companies creating sonic distress to whales and other sea creatures.

And oil leaks that destroyed entire ecosystems.

Your story reminded me of Freya the walrus that attracted tourists .. in the end stressed out , she was put down by authorities and now there is a beluga celebrity near Sweden. People flock to see it .. nothing good will come of this.

I found the topic interesting.

Bravo! This should be the winner, hands down.
It has a beginning, a conflict, and a satisfactory ending - all the requirements, plus it's a charming piece.
I wish you luck, and now I have changed my mind about entering. :)

    Katherine,

Thank you for your 6 star review. This is my first story written with only one form of punctuation. I wasn't sure I had met the requirements of the contest, bur posted it anyway.

    All the best,

    Eugene

Very well done as you got the entire story in one sentence, which didn't seem at all clumsy or overlong, but gave the necessary details about what was important to this shy sea creature who appears to have his values straight and who found that his life was happy and fulfilling, just as it was, without the need for fame or fortune--something that often corrupts people and leads to hollow, often disappointing lives.

Great job!

This made me remember a whale shark a hotel I once stayed at used to keep back in 2008. Eventually it was released back into the wild. It was a magnificent creature and definitely should not be caged. I enjoyed reading your piece. Good luck in the contest.
