What a funny poem! I love that it rhymes and yet pokes fun at a very serious topic -- GOLD DIGGERS. I'm dealing with several right now. It's very disheartening. So it was nice to run across a poem that makes fun of them. And with a happy ending too!

Thanks, Aiona. Elizabeth Barrett Browning's spirit was not very happy with me.

You scoundrel. This is a wonderful 'take' on the "love" poem. Best of luck in the contest. I put my money on this entry... (get it? Hm? okay, g-r-oan.)

Thanks, Dawn. That's a great way to get 150 letters in a review. lol.

Well, that's a different spin on a love poem. I love it! Too many folks out there fit this description, on both ends. Great piece you have delivered for all the view.
God bless!

Thanks again, Steve. Elizabeth Barrett Browning is probably turning over in her grave.

Lol, I suppose she is.

I'm sure Ms. Browning would be forgiving. It's happened throughout the ages of time... I envisioned a young woman marrying an older rich guy for only his money... but backfires when he passes and leaves her a penniless widow.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thanks, again. You are right. This has happened many times over the ages.

A fun twist on her poem (I'm sure she'd enjoy yours as well) - and I have to say that for many this sort of love rings true. Money and things matter more than the person, which is sad. Very well written.

Thanks, Wenday. Money and things, baubles and rings. The last is for paupers, the first is for kings. his just popped into my head. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

It is not nice to be a greedy, grasping, groping sneak. Today you take advantage of my generosity, tomorrow you will pay by my kicking you to the curb along with all your ill gotten gains, You will have no place to keep your precious things, while I will luxuriate in my new found freedom, out from under your greedy blanket of unending wants.

This poem is an engaging, interesting, descriptive and creative poem! The author's words convey an obsessive love for money and credit cards.
These words were stated with details and filled with emotion. The poem
flows and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments these
words. Great Poem, Paul!

Thanks, Maria. I wonder how many times this has happened.

I see the narrator as a rich old man who married arm candy and realized later why she wed him. As he ages, she's mean to him but he realizes her true love is money and leaves her nothing in his will. Very clever, Paul.

I think simply that this person has found his death and it's beautifully written. The sentences flow with clarity. Excellent work! No mistakes found. I like it. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Raul. I don't know if Elizabeth Barrett Browning would approve.

Oh dear, Paul, this is a funny poem, but I believe could be true in so many cases. I had to check if this was biographical, and to my relief I saw it was a humour poem albeit for the love Poem Contest. I had to smile. Good luck. Ulla:)))
