I weep for you. This is the best thing you could do, IMHO -- "I prayed for wisdom. I claimed the promise of James 1:5 in the Bible, which says that if anyone lacks wisdom he should ask God, who gives it freely to the sincere seeker." Asking for clarity!!!
"Yesterday he smiled."
Praise God.
"He has given me peace."
To God be the glory!

Thank you very much Dawn. I appreciate your very caring words and also the encouragement of the six stars. Since I posted things took a serious turn for the worse. On Tuesday he underwent a procedure to drain his right lung and they collected nearly 1700 mL of fluid. Just waiting now for them to do the same thing for the left lung. It?s very painful and can only be done under local anaesthetic so it?s distressing to see his pain. Thank you again for your loving care.

What a horrible question to have to ponder on!! As a nurse I look after elderly people and it's difficult enough to ask their families that question. I am glad that your child is 'ok' currently.

Thanks so much, Wendy, for reviewing. He?s just had a drain procedure this morning as his lungs had more than a litre of fluid in each. Quite complicated for him because of other complex medical needs. But all is well and he?s sleeping. I appreciate your care and interest.

I hope by the time you receive this, the young man is doing much better. It's wonderful that you have found a group home that loves and cares for too. We need to make room in our society for the disabled. It seems Australia is doing just that.

Thank you very much Ann. I appreciate your caring thoughts and words. Wondering if there is any way to improve it to earn five stars?

If I gave it less than 5 stars, it was truly a mistake!!!! Let me check it. ann

I am sorry it has taken so long for me to get round to commenting on this detailed and informative piece of writing. I am also sorry to hear of your son's illness but glad that it seems he is over the worst at least for the moment. The hospital should have kept you better informed though.

Thank you very much for reviewing Jim. He went downhill again shortly after I posted and is still quite unwell, too unstable to go home for a while yet. Yes, communication should have been better in that first week. Apparently one has to jump up and down to find out anything. Thanks again. Wendy

I am happy to hear he is healing and on the road to recovery. If he found joy in his life, it is a wonderful thing. In my mother's case, her brain was gone except for life support functions, and she lived two more years in what was her greatest fear.

Thank you Carol for reading and reviewing. I am so sad for your mother. It is that blurred line between offering life and drawing out the dying process.
He took a turn for the worse a couple of days after posting this one so he is still very unwell and too unstable to go home in the near future. It?ll be a slow recovery. I appreciate your review very much.

It appears God has blessed you with rational, patient, faithful wisdom. You listened to the messages God placed in your heart rather than to what people suggested. The person comparing a human to a dog never realized you would have compassion for a dog also. God stepped in and made the decision about your young friend, and God will decide when to call this young man home. I will keep you both in my prayers.

Thank you Lorraine. He has worsened again the last few days, still very ill, won?t be going home soon. Many thanks for reviewing but even more, for your prayers.

That is marvellous news. Compassion such as yours demands reward. The only thing we know about God's love is that it is incomparable, but the area of God's will is lot more hazy than that, as humans we only think in terms of the temporal, not the eternal, well done, great outcome, blessings Roy

Wendy, My view of all this differs from others so far.
God arranged for this fine young man to become under your foster care, as HE knew you would show him unconditional love, proper respect, and loving care, which enabled him to reach his full potential -- prompting all who get to know him to permanently improve their own outlook's positive aspect, which, in turn, will become an ever-widening series of ripples of love, respect, and caring. In short, he is an Earth Angel fulfilling his assignment in this world. Your care for him was and still is the key unlocking his heartwarming ability.
He has been in God's hand all his life, and God will keep him alive until he completes his assigned mission among us. Accordingly, you wisely have realized that his remaining time is God's choice.
Thank you for sharing this circumstance with us; so we may also feel the ripple of love, respect, and caring as well.
Superb, and aptly illustrated by your photo of him in the hospital.

Thank you very much Mike. Your review is both comforting and encouraging, and I agree with everything you said. I did indeed feel called to look after him during his childhood, and ever since. And yes, may the ripples of care and compassion bring forth circles of ever widening love and compassion towards all who are vulnerable. The last couple of days he has deteriorated again. An ongoing series of ups and downs.
Thank you again.

You are most welcome, Wendy. His living example whom staff and visitors can meet is far more effective than a name and/or picture in a newspaper. His positive and friendly personality comes from what you taught him. Whatever happens next, he has been a blessing on all who met him. -- Mike
