I guess it was those satisfying little moments that gave you not only a bit of peace in your life but also the strength to keep battling on. And that strength is still with you as you write each chapter. Good work Lea.
Cheers

This story is heart-wrenching but with honesty and enough of the peaceful moments to balance the story. It 'feels' real which allows the reader a deeper understanding of what you must have endured. Good writing. ann

This chapter has been a learning tool for me. I wasn't familiar with Alpha Ghetti and had to google it to discover it is an alphabet pasta in a can of condensed broth. You have provided a riveting description of your heist and return to your campsite, as well as how you managed to get the cans opened. Ah! You have food. You were truly "wilderness" girl.

Hello Lea,
I liked the analogy of the kitchen drain. Very descriptive and fully understandable. I wish that you could have seen the youtube video that I saw a year or two ago before being confronted with those cans but no opener. A Russian soldier was showing what to do in the same situation. Find a rock (like the granite) take the top of the can and start rubbing it vigorously over the rock. It will wear down the lid until you can just lift it off. I know it's a moot point. Like so much else in life, the information comes after you need it, and the chances are you'll never need to know this anyway. Oh well. Surely you must have gotten sick of eating canned spaghetti after a few days. Too bad you didn't have time to "shop" a little and pick out a variety. Well done gal.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Hi Tom, thank you so much again. Yeah, I did get tired of it of course but I wasn't a lot of selection. At that time, it was take what you can get kind of thing. And yeah, I wouldve liked to have shopped around that warehouse a little bit. But they were closing in 30 seconds, LOL. Thank you again. Tom really glad you like my writing. When I put it out there, kind of like a joke, just to see what would happen. But a response has been great. Well, i'm going to carry on, dump it all out Allow the authorities to do their thing and leave it all behind. Thank you again Tom! 🙃😄👍🙂

What makes this so real to the readers is the way you express your feelings as you are writing it before actually getting into the meat of the chapter. I can just feel everything flowing out of you as you sit down to write another chapter the way you described it.

You have a way of putting us right in the scene too, as when you describe the second can of food you ate, and you sat back and took your time about it, and when you'd finished, you described how you took satisfaction at how you were surviving and even the pleasure of stealing the cans. Very real emotions.

I hope you stole a can opener on your next foray out into the world!

Lol... A can opener would have certainly been preferabl OL. Thank you for your wonderful review. Really have a way of looking at things that makes me go, yeah, yeah, yeah! Ever appreciative and always like reading your reviews, you're very insightful, is there any other word for that about that particular word, but it certainly is true? So thank you again, have yourself a marvelous day!

You were such a RESOURCEFUL child!! My goodness!! A survivor, all in capital letters. Very impressive. Will there be a point at which we discover what your mother and the man were doing in your absence? Were they looking for you (they must have known you were gone; there weren't as many children to abuse, after all...UGH!! How I DESPISE these people!!) I'm just so curious. And, just to clarify...was this during a break from school?

Another very riveting chapter. And, again, I love the narratives before and after. Otherwise, I think it would be just too anxiety-riddled. It's also a touch I've never seen done before in these kinds of books, so that helps make it memorable.

You're continuing on such a successful path here, Lea. And you're PROLIFIC!! I'm so impressed with the amount you accomplish here every day. You are a bulldozer!!! xoxox

At least you had food and drink and you survived, even if you had to steal it, you had no choice and you got away with it and lived another day. I have no idea where this is heading and I am hoping it is to a better place, love Dolly x x x

At first I didn't realise what Alfa Ghetti was. Then I thought it must be some kind of spaghetti? But, if so, I would have expected some reference to sauce dripping down from the can. I sense an element of fun coming in here because, although the theft is full of tension, the exhilaration of such a successful haul must have been quite a buzz. Your story is clearly and engagingly written and I enjoyed learning more. No noticeable errors. Debbie

I can't imagine how you ran with 23 cans in you jacket with dropping them. You might need to say what Alfa Ghetti is. I had no idea until I looked it up. You could mention in your notes or story it's a pasta in tomato sause. I'm glad you didn't get caught. I hope your friends bring a can opener.

LOL well I had to improvise on a lot of things, but it's a work in progress. I know about it cause I remember my face was sticky and I wasn't sure what to do about it but then of course I fell asleep. I have to pop that little comment in there, thank you. Thank you again and have an awesome night!

Love the style again. Once again the prologue and epilogue put such a lovely frame around the exciting and rather blissful events you write about here so effectively. Well done. John x
