Almost as if we've traveled back in time with this chapter from book one, but it lets us readers learn more about you and the happenings from early on. Thanks for sharing.

I am re-reading your chapters early in your book to see patterns and details more clearly. I think the 'white horse' reference was used about two chapters ago also. However, it would not surprise me if your mother said that more than once. I would change "Tik Tok, tik tok" to "Tick, tock, tick, tock" so as to avoid any confusion with Tik Tok the social media company. I like your similes at the end like the slow drip of molasses or slower than a caterpillar. I just bought a jar of molasses this week to try making gingerbread cookies for the first time, but I know it's slower than honey.

Sadly, it seems that the closet was your safe place. After three weeks of heaven you were thrust back into the hell you knew. I'm not sure how you hung onto hope that you'd get out of that situation, Lea.
Cheers

Mostly it was about fear and what he would do or maybe what I would do. So much more to tell so many reasons, devious ones for why they did what they did. Three girls were sacrificed for that. It will take time but Ii will be clear soon, thank you again Valda so happy to have you along. It can be a hard read I know

What a powerful post and book chapter. It tore at my heart as I read and felt the fear and anxiety of a little girl with no control over her situation. This should be a contender in the contest. Good luck. ann

And now? The story of your young life touched me. I was abused by my mother slapping me across the face. Why? Because I was too strong for her. When she couldn't slap me anymore, she waited until Dad came home and he picked up the leather strap. These events can make or break us. I think we are both very strong people. Thanks for sharing your chapter. Love, K. xx

I thank you so much for your fine review. And your kind of ready your compassion? And your support is evident and I am truly grateful. I was not delete my whole life. I was not relieved even today. Family members doubt it. But that is because it's easier to doubt than deal with the facts as they are even though I have boxes and boxes of reports given about them. There are some successes and some setbacks, but that is the flow of life, is it not question? Thank you for your fine review once again and for reading and hanging in there. I know it's hard to read, also know it's necessary. I hope you have a great day!

As tortuous it is for me to read your well-crafted work, I am grateful that you have found your voice and courage to share. I've read a number of your offerings, and each time, your voice becomes stronger...
I admire your perseverance and courage.
Keep writing...

Much appreciated,

    Thank you, Lea!
As for the weather, well, it is freezing here in northern Michigan!
Sitting and writing in front of a cheerful fire!
Gotta love northern Michigan; last week we were sweltering in the high 80s!

Today, here in Surrey British Columbia. The weather is around 26 degrees Celsius, which roughly aver 82. Fahrenheit. A fire sounds nice even though we're quite warm today

Lea, I just finished carefully reading every word of yur story and although good in many ways you never bring up what your fear was? At one time when you and your two sisters went to the home and you were so happy to be away from all the pain...You do say fist... I believe you need to talk about the abuse.
You know what it is but your reader does not know.
And, I did like reading about your personal life, getting arrived, etc. but it just doesn't really go with the beginning of your story...
And, last but not least I feel that your final lines
Tik Tok, tik tok, the days, the weeks, the years. We experienced time like the slow drip of molasses. Slower than a caterpillar on the sidewalk...
This line would be a fabulous beginning to your story... It would make the reader to read more....

    Hi Lisa!
I appreciate your throat reading of this and all your kind words and offerings of advice without that, we cannot improve so I thank you very much! Addressing some of the questions you ask this is a Chapter in a book i'm writing called the "Ghost". It's an autobio about my life. Obviously, so all the things you mentioned above are in the preceding chapter. The first three are in the actual book, My portfolio holds the separate chapters which includes this one. The first separate chapter is called Enough. The second separate chapter is called Navigation, the next is Small Mercys followed by this one. The things you wondered about in the questions who asked are in those chapfirst. Feel free to look if you have time. I want to thank you again for your insight and for your very discerning eye. I hope your day is amazing!

Hey Lea. A 'creek' is a stream. You want 'creak'!

What an amazing picture. Such a beautiful girl - how could anyone hurt you?

More painful and utterly gripping writing. Well done and thank you for sharing this.

Hi John, I thank you for reading. I sure do appreciate people following along with this story and offering support like you and others do. There are good people in the world. And I knew what would happen? LOLI shall continue to write. There'll be some victories and there'll be some down falls, but that is life. Thank you again I hope you have the best day!

How dreadful for a child to fear going to bed and to listen for sounds before sleeping in order to be forewarned of abuse. I dreaded every morning as I woke in my home growing up. We were woken by my Father's alarm and he would shout from his bedroom to tell us to get up every morning. I would nudge my sisters to get out of bed and get ready for school.

The three of us slept in the same room and one of my sisters struggled to get out of bed every morning. Despite the warnings, she lay there sleeping. My Father would storm into the room and hit her through the covers whilst she was sleeping. She cried every morning but she still defied my Father and would not get out of bed when called. I feared my Father and this violence every morning started my day and I vowed I would never have a man like him in my life when I grew up. My husband was gentle and kind and my children had a wonderful childhood, unlike my own. I have never written about my experiences, and yet they are so vivid. I feel for you Lea, love Dolly x
