Thank you for the fun review. Yes, there is really such a thing as goat stew. I haven't eaten it myself, but I know people who have. Most of the people I know who have goats use them for milk and cheese because their kids have allergies to cow's milk. They are considered pets more than livestock to them.

Having said that, it's chapter very well written amusing and tragic. At the same time, you write very concisely to a point where there's no doubt what's going on. My interest was captured from the first word to the last word. Because you written it so very well.
I see no issues with spelling sentence structure or subjectmatter. You've got a nice piece of magic here. It's a great submission and I wish you best of luck!

perhaps that is where this story is going.
This chapter is just as entertaining as the other ones, maybe more so. I like calling him Goat, rather than Grendel. Goat soup sounds so much better than Grendel soup.

She's lucky there is still enough food and snacks left, as well as hay for the horses. I think Ava chose the right name for the goat. I could feel Ava's pain every time she fell, trying to get the goat to follow the horses. But she was able to enjoy watching "the pastoral scene below." I also like the greeting card, calendar reference.
I don't blame her for not wanting anything to do with the elevator, and the ending was bittersweet. I don't have a guess where the story is headed, but I imagine you have some ideas that won't disappoint. Maybe it is Ava's turn for some good fortune with everything she has done so far. I am enjoying the story. Have a great day and rest of your week.

What a delightful review. I'm happy you liked the chapter and appreciate the kind comments about the writing. You are so right about that elevator. At least it worked long enough to free the animals. Yes, that goat was an issue. I've been around a few and they are mischievous creatures. I think they love to play jokes on people and to get their own way.

Yes, there will be more. It is already written. The delay is due to me being the caregiver for my mother. She had a fall on November 1 and it limited her mobility greatly for several weeks. She didn't leave the house during that time and was limited to her room, the bathroom, and a sitting room. She couldn't get the walker into the kitchen so I had to do a bit of fetch and carry when she needed things. I was worried about her mood and spent a lot of time just trying to cheer her up. She is just now starting to move around which frees me up to get back to writing and posting. I need to do some reviewing to build up my bank and hope to post early next week.
