A lovely, lilting and melancholy poem. The metaphor of life and the mind and memory works so well. I almost wonder if your picture needs to be a bit more abstract, because one starts reading expecting something about a sunken ship. Just a thought. Otherwise this is great and the refrain is perfect.

The Edmond Fitzgerald was an ore carrier that sunk on November 10th 1975, during a storm on lake Superior, taking 29 souls with it. The singer, Gordon Lightfoot immortalized the event by writing a song about it. You can listen to the song by clicking it on above my poem. Thanks so much for reading my poem. :)

Ooh. Interesting. I still think the poem stands on its own and works better as a metaphor.

Thank you for the lovely poem, inspired by Gordon Lightfoot. I couldn't get the video to work. I have a lot of experience with videos on here because I post them frequently in my Jukebox Hits and other posts, and for it to fly, it must have an HTML code like the ones on YouTube.
Beautifully penned and illustrated poem, nonetheless.
Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Hello Author,
I'm well familiar with this song by Gordon. Having spent many days on the water commercial fishing, I'm amazed that the captain and crew would have embarked on such a dangerous excursion in the middle of winter. It's distressing that there was no one to rescue them. Working on the water is always full of danger. I had read that commercial fishing is the most dangerous job in the US. I believe it. Good luck in the contest.
Have a blessed evening.
