gossip hurts people .And people in high positions (financially or spiritually)are more vulnerable because the fall would be remembered for longer time
good theme..The speaker truly regrets or if he is being ironic ,I am not sure.

This is a thoughtful poem and you're right that so many are quick to criticize the pastor and not give him the due respect of one who is leading the Lord's flock!

I'm sorry for your heart ache. You have been forgiven. I encountered a problem in my church. I Thought the church needed shook up. I prayed and believed, If God wanted it shook, He didn't need my help. I left His home to him. I have been Blessed many times over for my choice. Blessings. B

I have been forgotten and also have been blessed in many ways. When my wife was alive, she used to remind me to stop feeling so guilty about the past. God knows our heart and forgets our past sins, washed away by Christ's Blood.

Forgiving ourselves is the hardest part. Then not letting ourselves dwell on the past best. It took a long times to begin to live in the moment. Makes such a differance. xo Blessings. B

At the very top of the Church is Christ, not your pastor. If you are addressing your pastor as if he is the one you need to follow, I believe whomever he is, he has put himself before the teachings of Jesus and the glory of God Himself. Your pastor is a man, son of humans. Your writing is very good but as a past Sunday School Teacher, myself, I am not so sure about your pastor. No person who claims to bring others to Christ, allows himself to be treated like a god. Sounds like a false prophet you have there and if I'm wrong, God forgive me but I don't think I am.

You are correct, of course, Christ IS the head. I meant the shepherd of the congregation. Actually, I wrote this to, in a way, tell on myself, for in the past, when I first got to know The Lord, I wanted to do more and was still a bit too much into myself.

I understand. I'm not that "religious" anymore but I love God and Jesus with all I am. Nice to meet you. Just keep realizing pastors are people too.
My ex husbands parents were both pastors and they were nice people but the things that went on in the family the people in church never heard about so I'm just saying. Man is man an man didn't die on the cross for us.
With love, Alex :))

The Devil wages wars with many tools and weapons. The viper comes in many colors.
Good work here and may you be blessed in your encroaching completion.

This is a great little poem. This person seems to be nasty, but his repentance seems genuine, and God is faithful and just to forgive. We all need to watch the words of our mouths for there is life and death in the tongue.
Best wishes regarding the contest. Pen

I wasn't the nicest person in the past, but now am trying to b led of The Lord.
Comment from Loren .
A didactic poem of regret and confession. I do not think that the pastor's reputation will forever silenced as there are some who can see the truth of the gossip and possibly from whose tongue it it is being uttered. Confession, I understand, is good for the soul. Therefore some good has come out of this, including forgiveness. Loren

Thank you for your analysis of this poem. I do know I will try to be led by The Lord and not use my tongue to harm the works of others.

Thank you for sharing.
I liked this:
'For, to have Faith, one must hear
But to self and pride
I lent an itchy ear'
Indeed something that most of us are guilty of and pay for it, hopefully not the rest of our lives.

I have known pastors whose ministry was ruined by the tongue.
-
That is the truth. We are still human and still need much guidance and humility.
-
And I constantly need His Guidance!
-
So do I. Amen to that.
