Tears again, gobs. And more to come soon. Did she leave Gert the television and the remote? I would have left her a book from Mrs. Manners.***********************

Lol. I think Iris is used to Gert. She's a small doses friend. Lol. Gretchen

yes, I had a friend who was hysterically funny, but sharp and a bit mean-spirited. Fun in small doses. I love your stuff. Karen

This is very sweet .Jameson s poem is really touching and just as I guessed Iris liked it too. The story is flowing very well ,each time landing the reader in anxiety to know what would happen next ...

Thanks so much. Poetry is very tricky for me. Was worried how it would go over. Lol. Gretchen

Gretchen, you made me cry. The poem is so beautiful, I didn't know you are a poet besides a gifted author.

I love the way Iris reacted. She deserves some joy after getting such bad news about her heart.

I love their relationship... it's so sweet.

I'm also happy that Jameson is writing again. It sounds like his wife was not supportive. Now he has Iris to encourage him.

My ex-husband was a writer and when we were dating he wrote long letters and poems about me. There's nothing as romantic as a poem written about you.

I love this chapter as much as the others. You are a very talented writer.

Thank you so much. I'm very humbled by your review. I do minimal poetry. Just enjoy reading others. I think poetry bares your soul more than any other type of writing. Very personal. I really appreciate this kind review and the extra star. Gretchen

Apparently, his wife's attitude took his belief in himself right out of him. He will be so much better without her, unless he picks another like her, which isn't uncommon. The poem he wrote for Iris really is quite personal from all we have learned about her. One change in the poem: (Love's)

Thanks so much, Carol. I doubt Jameson will make the same mistake twice. He'll be looking out for Finny. I appreciate this detailed review. Gretchen

Hmmm. Who wrote that poem, I wonder. It couldn't be my friend GRETCHEN, who claims she is NOT a poet, could it??...

Well, whoever DID write it did a phenomenal job. I am duly impressed. Probably not as impressed as Iris was, of course, since it's not about me...but duly impressed, all the same.

Lovely chapter, Gretchen. Again, I like the way it never gets soppy or lugubrious. It's bittersweet, yes, but it's done with beauty and tenderness. I don't feel like you're "using" your reader ever. That's no easy balance to attain. Super duper work. xo

What a wonderful, touching poem you wrote in your story Gretchen! You should post your poetry on the poetry side, it would do well. Jameson is a gentle soul and Iris sees and feels his good nature, another fine post, love Dolly x

Thank you for saying that but I am no poet. I will stick to prose. I really appreciate this sweet review. Gretchen

Jameson and Iris are so good for each other. I am so glad they found each other, and I really like this story.

I wander over to the couch. I slide my palm across the smooth soft cover. (Too many 'I' is a short space, try 'I wander over to the couch and slide my palm across the smooth softcover.')

She is winded and I jump up to get her chair for her. (switched subjects so comma after 'winded)

Words. Oh, they can change a mood in a minute, good or bad. No better to express what we think or how we feel. Show distaste, love, and make a meal taste all the better. Words, must be chosen wisely. And so many times, I've needed to practice what I'm preaching. Thanks for sharing.

I give full credit to the character, Jameson, for the poem. Lol. But I'll pass along the compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Both Iris and Jameson needed a break from the drama. Gretchen

Such a touching episode, with Jameson writing a poem for Iris, which brings tears to her eyes, and gratitude to her heart, when she recalls her days when her and her husband to be were still children making mud pies, beautifully written, blessings Roy
