Oh no! And you still didn't have the satisfaction of pressing that doorbell! Still, I have to give you credit for trying to solve the height problem. But I'm sure Grandma didn't recognize your quick thinking.
Best wishes in the contest!

Haha! Many blessings, and thank you.

Hmm, Interesting. I guess grandma was too slow to stop you, or perhaps she didn't like whoever owned the flowerpot.
This is written well, and it is suitable for all audiences. I think it will do well in the contest.

I find your way of thought fascinating.

Ouch! That's a shame since it meant so much to you to ringa bell. Excellent writing and your authentic voice throughout is clear. Your entire presentation was a pleasure to read and see. Best wishes!.

Thank you so much! I?ve rung many bells since, and knocked on many doors, but that scar on my knee remains.
Comment from Sanku
My granddaughter always wanted to ring the bell and also to press the lift buttons
A cute story about a childhood misstep. Hope no bone scolded you for the broken pot...

Well...the story of replacing it is a story of its own
Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
I was going to say how much I like the imagination here but I see it's a true story! Nevertheless told in a very engaging and concise flash which I enjoyed reading. Even wanting to hear more about what happens inside:). So well done and good luck! Debbie

Haha. That would be imaginative, surely.
Thank you so much for your well wishes! And perhaps I shall reveal more of the story some other time haha.
Comment from Terry Broxson
LOL! The story you tell in this true flash is as bright and vivid as the picture you found to illustrate your story. I think you could do really well in the contest. Excellent work. Terry.

I'm sure it seemed reasonable and a great idea at the time. Oh the things we do as kids because we are attempting to discover our world and show how clever we are.
You have an engaging narrative voice. You set up the situation well and give us a great finish.

Thank you for these humble words. I'm sad to say things similar to that didn't not happen (so it did) but that scar on my knee appears and will probably forever be the one that never fades. So there's that!
Blessings!
Comment from Paul Manton
This is tough love, Rainbewlatte! I would hate to think that grandma saw that coming and thought you might learn a lesson. Grandmas are not usually that unkind!
Well, I hope the family friend had plenty of bandages and antiseptic - I remember as a child of similar age, not taking my uncle's good advice not to run on uneven gravel road. But I did - and the gravel tucked itself neatly into my wounded knee. They carried me home and plonked me in the large kitchen sink. It took ten minutes to get the gravel out, while I was screaming the house down.
If only we got wiser sooner! Thanks for this salutary story.

I was probably screaming the house down as well. Need be said, the scar remains. A lot more faded now, but a scar.
Thank you for your well wishes and glad you enjoyed my story!

Welcome, Rainbew.

Hello, Rainbow! This is a wonderful (and colorful) true story. I'm certain this will do very well in the true story flash.
Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thank you so so much for your kind words. Humbled.
Comment from Wayne Fowler
Nicely written.
Few people accuse little kids of thinking things through.
In fact, sometimes... well, anyway.
Grandma just got tired of saying "no". Too bad.
Good luck in the contest.
