Hi Debi. Now the comp's. over, I can tell you there was nothing close to yours, so having voted for it I was delighted it won. Congratulations.
Well I wasn't brave enough to try a monorhyme - some of the others were frightful (I shouldn't say that) in fact I thought yours was the only good one - it didn't for example, sound like a shopping list.
And that's the point - yours was the only story, so although it kept strictly to the rhyme, it was also interesting to read. The story of the psalmist - could be King David - and then up to date with how these great hymns of faith impact us now.
Brilliant. Thank you.

Congratulations, Debi, on your first-place finish! Well deserved! Always such strong verbs-love the image of 'the psalmist scribed', 'strum his lyre', setting our hearts 'ablaze', 'soothe the soul'. A lovely poem all around. Again, congratulations!

This mono-rhyme poem, They Comfort Me, starts out with praise and leads to what God conveys. The psalms are and always have been a great inspiration to me as well.

I very much enjoyed the way you used aurally identical but visually distinct line-end rhymes here to create a well-balanced, varied monorhyme poem. kay

Your poem is beautiful, and so well written!! I agree with your message! The old psalms really have nice poetry in them and show us how our forefathers had the same issues we have today to work through.
Take care,
Rhonda

I adore the hymns I used to sing in church and no one is interested in singing them anymore, but I remember them with fondness so I could identify with your words here, a well written poem for the contest, love Dolly x

Hi Dolly,
Thank you for sharing about your love for the hymns. I have also seen less singing of them. It's sad. I find them uplifting. I appreciate you stopping by to read and review.

That's some effort. I have trouble maintaining a rhyme for two lines and you've managed twelve. And it flowed so nicely and didn't at all seem forced. Loved the message promoted by your words.

The author's words are lovely. They are meaningful, descriptive and
creative. I like how the author addresses each stanza in a positive tone
as the reader looks forward to the next stanza! The artwork is awesome
and compliments the theme and words of this poem.
