This is a sweet narrative poem. I liked reading it very much, due to the great end rhymes and the natural flow of language in general.

Little fix:
Then it dawned on him, "let's try one on."
I would say:
Then it dawned on him: "Let's try one on."
Or possibly italicize Let's try one one. without any quotation marks.

A fun and delightful read. It is truly a wonderful story. This is a testament to your creativity and imagination to take a simple yet complicated task for a young boy and write a great story.
Sounds familiar. I seemed to remember frequently walk around with my shoes on the wrong feet.
best wishes,
Mary

What a thoughtful boy. He didn't want to wake his mommy, but he was facing such a dilemma while trying to dress himself. Mom does come to the rescue. Next time, he will be able to do it himself.
Great storytelling. Excellent picture to go with the story.

Very well written with your natural sense of humor, a story that will bring back memories for many, I remember standing in front of the mirror, trying to comb my hair to the left, ****kahpot

That image of combing is another funny story. It never happened if I get your drift seeing how images are reversed in a reflection.

well, if I am, right, it would be coincidental as it has been a long, long, very long time since the last time i was ... right.

Mother saved the day. What a clever idea to right the letters on his hands. I first thought they should have been on his feet, but the socks would have covered them. Very cute story.

What an absolutely wonderful story, I was that little boy wondering what was L and what R, and I've relived that through my grandsons and granddaughter, (who can read time digitally) but not with a clock with fingers, that was my big breakthrough as a boy, well done, blessings Roy

This was very fun to read. Love that the mom came to the rescue with out being woken. This was a rhythmic poem that let's everyone know that sometimes it's okay to ask for help. Very cute. Gretchen

A fun poem and children do go through that stage where they want to do everything by themselves. Those are doubtless the thoughts children experience in this perplexing situation. Well told story in a poem.

Ha ha ha, you made me smile with this poem Tom and this was indeed a dilemma, but I doubt kids are bothered about the shoes being on the wrong feet until they try and run! Ha ha ha, an endearing post, love Dolly x x x

A smile a day keeps the doctor away, or is that an apple?
