I guess life does write it's story on the face of the one who experiencers it. Most of women would prefer to see our facial features flawless, but some artists like to exergerate features and flaws to make sure the tracks life leaves on us are sharply visible.

Heh heh, particularly if one is my age, but sometimes there is a beauty in the starkness of life to see every blemish, every scar, all the pock marks of life, wearing them like portable trophy, as Jesus will carry the scars of His sacrifice, beautifully written Brett, blessings Roy

There are so few words to tell the story, so a lot has to be left to the reader. The artist seems to be angry with his subject and unwilling to show her as the beauty she thinks she is. Did I get it right?

When I do portraits I tell them up front. I will feature your wrinkles, freckles and scars. It is who you are. If I leave something out, you won't be satisfied with the end product. All these filters on the phone kill the image as well. Great flash fiction. Gretchen

What a cruel artist. I like this little glimpse into his perfectionist life. It reminds me of Dickens, surely one of the ugliest men ever, inside and out, criticizing a former love because she hadn't been able, somehow, to stay young. Excellent work.
