I am giving this a 5 for its craft. It uses a spritely varied mater and makes good use of rhyme. I can appreciate the craft while disagreeing with every point it makes (except re: Pence and the GOP field, though I would definitely include Vivek in that regard). But is it senryu? It has the humor and irony, but obviously does not follow the form. But then whoever wrote the contest description muddied the waters by listing a very distinct poetic form (senryu) and then also stating any form would be accepted...so why not say "Political Satire Poem Contest"...ah well. Not my problem, or yours, but they should have thought through it more carefully. At any rate good luck in the contest!

Indeed. It was somewhat contradictory - like a conversation with my wife. Because I am a Texan, our general rule is "why use one word when twelve will do?" Glad you enjoyed the craft if not the message. Would love to discuss in detail, but I gotta go. I hear they're serving cocaine at the White House.

THANKS, Mike, for reading my poem and a nice review. I agree. It could be relevant to them all. Can you imagine what our founding fathers are saying at their Heavenly pub?
