Oy, oy, oy. Please stop breaking my heart. No, don't; you know what I like to say: Being Jewish, a day without suffering means I just didn't try hard enough. I'm suffering a LOT reading this.

Beautiful chapter. So much more insight into Iris. So many additional reasons to love and admire her.

"Lou" should be possessive case in the sentence that reads: Eggs were Lou and my love language.

I must have some Jewish blood in me too. I believe everything can be fixed with food. "Eat, honey, you'll feel better." LOL. Thanks for this. Gretchen

When we lose a close one, husband, wife, all the things we told them off about, suddenly becomes the one thing that we want to see again. I had a few gripes with what my first husband did, but after he died, (40 years ago) I would have done anything to have him do it again. I completely understand Iris. This is very well written, Gretchen, you do such a good job in writing feelings and emotions. Well done!:)) Sandra xx

I just loved the ending to this chapter. You brought the strength of their marriage full forward and enjoyable to read.

I'm like Lou and always in trouble finger tasting...

Loved her conversation with herself - real and understandable. She was fortunate to have had a happy marriage, and that was the perfect ending!
A very good, short chapter.

Thank you. My mother would schedule days like this to remember my father after he passed. It seemed the natural thing to do. Gretchen

Aww. Sweet. It's the little domestic things like this that make a life isn't it? Another great instalment. Well done. Keep punching them out. Could do with some more intriguing interaction with Jameson.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I don't know whether you mentioned it before, and caught me at an inattentive moment, but did you say why Lou was not there? Divorce? Death? It seems you are playing with the reader's mind, which can be good!

What a delightful paragraph:

Eggs were Lou and my love language. [I do think it's "Eggs were LOU'S and my love language." In double possessive nouns, you only use the possessive on the first one ... and of course, there is no possessive for "my" which is possessive anyway.]

I commend you for the way you tied in Jameson's story in, through Iris's reflection.

Jay

I agree today's world of instant gratification carries over into marriages. Marriage isn't easy one has to work at it, well actually two need to work at it. I did enjoy this post. Thank you for sharing.

This is a delightful chapter. Iris and Lou knew how to make marriage work, and it sounds as if it wasn't easy all the time. But the secret was that they both had to do the work and Jameson's wife has no desire to put any effort into it.

After traveling all week for the last two weeks I've stayed behind on reviewing. So, I apology for the late and off topic review. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. Thanks for sharing.
