Beautiful and so completely realistic. I REALLY can't stand Claire. I know Jameson THINKS she's so all-it, but she's NOT the right one for him. There is someone so much sweeter out there who will appreciate his kind, beautiful soul!! The Jewish Mommie matchmaker in me knows this is a FACT!!! Hopefully, he'll smarten up to this soon. (Maybe with Iris's help!)
Also, I keep meaning to mention this, but I have a friend who has only ever had Irish Wolfhounds, so I am very familiar with the breed. What a great choice; what was your inspiration for that?

Saw a small guy walking two. One was behaved and the other was yanking the poor guys arm out of socket. A puppy for sure. Lol. Thanks. I'm so glad you're into this. Gretchen

I missed this one until just now. It doesn't sound like wifey is into reconciliation. Once again, you made your characters so realistic - the little boy getting fussy and yelling and running off, and also falling asleep on dad's shoulder. It is a sad situation, but at least she lets him see his son. some ex-wives don't. Of course, sometimes there's a good reason.
another enjoyable chapter.

Thanks so much, Katharine. I'm glad you found the chapter to be realistic for the most part. Gretchen

I didn't say any of it wasn't.

Lol. Then I'm glad you found it all realistic. Just happy you're enjoying this story. Gretchen

I think it's terribly tragic when a parent is separated from their child, I experienced once in my life, and it was excruciatingly painful, but things returned quickly to equilibrium. I identified with this most profoundly, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. I'm sorry you went through that but it sounds like it worked out for you in the long run. I appreciate you telling me that it resonated with you. Gretchen

I'm glad Jameson got to see his son. I'm pretty sure in every situation the children suffer the most in any failed marriage. I can't think of a time they're not effected. I am enjoying this story.
I bite my tongue before answering. "I'm never too busy for Finny." (comma after 'answering')

I'd say he married the wrong sister. The only solution I see is if he can work out some shared custody arrangement with Claire. Your details are so vivid, it's like being there.

Thanks so much. I think Iris might have something to say about this as well. Gretchen

Jameson is stuck between a rock and a hard place, as the old saying goes. Trying to figure things out from every angle as those around him stay standoffish. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much. He is kind of a Pollyanna. Nothing can go wrong if you wish hard enough. Gretchen

This is superb writing again, Gretchen. You add the details that make the story so believable. The way Jameson has to bite his tongue, be careful what he says in case he ruins any chance to see Finny. His wife is not the one for him, if it wasn't for his son, I'd say forget her. Then we have to trip to see the sharks. Lol, that so reminded me of when I took my granddaughter out to buy her a swing. Everyone she saw, she wanted. If we decided it wasn't right for her young again, she did what Finny did. Threw one hell of a tantrum! I remind her of that and other things now that she's nearly 23. She laughs. Such memories. She is also the most loving of all our grandchildren. I really enjoyed this chapter, my friend, well done! :)) Sandra xx

I have dealt with a few tantrums with my own children and grandchildren as well. Lol. Hell while it's happening, funny later down the road. I'm glad you liked this one. And thank you for the bonus star. I very much appreciate it. Gretchen

Oh you have such an ability to convey the pain and the joy of the relationships we make in our lives. Obviously my own situation, estranged from wife and child, makes this more personally poignant but this is still another excellent piece.

My son has four kids and is in the same boat. I'm sorry to hear this. It's tough, especially when you miss your family. Thank you for this wonderful and personal feedback. Gretchen

This is very nicely done. The tension between Claire and Jameson comes through clearly, as does the frustration of both Amanda and Jameson with the current situation. I wonder how long Claire can hold out against them for her own way. kay

Thank you. I'm not sure how long she will get her way. Or if she honestly wants her way. She's tough to read, even for me, the author. Lol. Gretchen
