Awe, thank you. I learn stuff all the time. I'm not much of a computer person. If you want to get notified of a person's writing when it comes out, you can fan them. That way you don't have to hunt them down. Welcome. Gretchen

I forgot about that, I will fan you. You have been warned! Ha

Mmmm. Very, very nice first chapter. I knew I was going to love this story; I really did. I've been telling myself for the entire month of June and July that I must catch up. But, after catching up with the Terry Joe one, now I'm craving more GW Hargis reads! So...perfect!!

Ooof, this is realistic: "Heston is unpredictable with people. He's scared the maintenance man so bad, they won't come in unless I close him in the bedroom and stand guard at the door." A great example of juxtaposition: ""Shit. Heston, stop. Bad dog," I yell as I beat it down the side street, watching his happy tail as it gets further and further away." A great setting for the beginning. Well done. I will be back.

Now to see in which order I read the other two, then onward to the 4th - if there is a forth. hope so. I like your characters.

Excellent story with an intriguing plot. I like big dogs better than the little one. I like Jameson character. I look forward to the next chapter.

Most dogs truly are like children. We never know how they will act toward anyone. But it's been my experience that, if my dog doesn't like someone, I'll soon find out I don't like them much either. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I use my dogs as barometers. They're beagles so if their fur goes up, I'm outta there. Lol. Thank you, Ric. Have I missed your posts somehow. Have read much from you lately. Gretchen

Trust your beagles. LOL. You haven't missed any of my posts. I don't post often. I'd rather read others, except on rare occasions. :-)

Good, I'm in from the start. This looks like being another of your page turners, Gretchen. I'm already into it. It will be nice learning more about their backgrounds. Well done, great beginning. :)) Sandra xx

You will get to know them more as it goes on, but remember it is a novella so it's not going to be but so deep. But I enjoyed writing it and wanted to share. Thank you for joining along. Gretchen

Your story has begun well. It attracts the reader by hinting at troubles in the protagonist's life, and keeps up the intrigue by not giving too much away; just a hint with the news that Jameson has a child. Good luck with the novella.

Just love it. My younger daughter has bought herself a female Rottweiler, a very large, near puppy girl, she's a beautiful dog, but they are ultra protective, and can growl at strangers, although I think if a stranger approached her, she would wee herself, this is a great story Gretchen, blessings Roy

There was a huge lab next door to me. He wet himself every time a dog came up to him. But he looked so tough. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I really like the beginning of this story. Any story with a large dog in it has to be good. Jameson is an interesting character. I want to learn more about him.

PS - I also want to know more about Miranda. I haven't forgotten.
