Seems you earned a rather hard lesson ... makes me wonder where the parents of all those children were when the whistle blew; and perhaps you should tell your grandchildren what a blunder you made.
There are quite a few grammar mistakes in your story; but you made your point well. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing my story. I did catch some of my grammar issues about the same time you must have been reviewing.

And I can't answer where all the other parents were but mine were up at the cabin for the weekend. Things were different back then and besides this was supposed to be a little serious but lighthearted as most people who were no longer kids, but 18 were maybe home after one or two. I'm not sure who wouldn't get wrapped up in the excitement of just getting out of school and having the law change the same day. We just so happened to run into guys in the bar that kept buying and back that was a day we got pulled in.

However I doubt that getting wrapped up in the excitement of one day hardly classifies something I would call a blunder and feel the need to have my grandkids look at me in that manner. I would much rather have them see what good I have done and love me for what they have seen and how I treat others and have for many years.
A woman who tries very hard not to judge others.

I am certain that your grandchildren see all that you are teaching them with your kindness and loving heart. Blunder, which you identified as the actions of that night, is such a good, non-judgemental word... I appreciated its use in the context of your slice of life story.

I apologize for being so sensitive but at 18
And it being made so available 1 was surprised anyone would fault a One day episode. That all.

You are fine. I think I just took it wrong, thanks so much for writing back.

Please, you have no need to apologize Debi. I certainly intended no criticism of you at all. writing a 'slice of life' piece is hard anyway, and doubly so to get the bottom line point across without just saying it. You did well.

So you had way more than one too many? And who was buying you all those drinks? High schoolers don't have much money. What turning point. The great thing about this incident was that Glen was there and his "look" changed your views of alcohol because you knew not to imbibe like that ever again. Thanks for sharing.
I think in Hawaii the drinking age was 18 but later changed to 21.

Lol, I think I wrote that all the men who were in the bar kept buying my friends and me drinks but that was all I remember. I still had my wild oats for a while, but when I was reborn later that took care of that need. I am so happy you read and reviewed this as God has put me on the path of sharing lately. But w this being the exact date and fifty years ago it felt like a good time to do this one. I love that people can see themselves in some of my experiences to some of this stuff cause others are happy to share their stories too! I find that you can only relate when you have something to relate to. Thanks my sweet sister and friend in Christ.
