I agree that the human voice is one of the most complex and can be the most beautiful of musical instruments! I love that you covered the physical parts of the instrument: "lungs, ribcage, and diaphragm." And you used musical terms plus all the vocal ranges of the choir. Best wishes in the contest!
Suggestion:
no two are ever quite as everybody. (everybody's)

I think you've taken on a difficult subject here and turned it around well. Your verse focuses imaginatively on the voice as a musical instrument and the rich diversity that it possesses, adapting itself to a section of an orchestra or simply projecting itself without backing or even a structured scenario. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest! Debbie

Oh yes for those of us thst have received some vocal training, we have been made aware of the very small, but incredibly useful vocal cords, combined with the other physical abilities to project sound from even the smallest frame, such as Edith Piaf for instance, beautifully written Jim, blessings Roy

Hi Jim.
This is a well oiled poem. Just like a voice has to be well lubricated by liquid and practice. This remind us the variety of voices that make music so interesting and fun. Also, that voices are just as much of an instrument as a piano, horn or guitar.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great weekend.

I enjoyed the alliteration in the fifth stanza Jim and your tribute to our voices as a musical instrument is unique and poignant as we can create music without the aid of an instrument, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. It's very creative how you compared voices to the musical instruments. I love music but unfortunately, it's not one of my talents. I enjoyed reading and good luck with the contest.

This is a great poem about musical instruments! I found it to be vibrant,
interesting, fun, meaningful and creative. My son and his wife are both
professional musicians and these words resonated with me well. The author's description is exceptional of the sounds and voices in these words! The artwork is awesome and compliments this poem.
Have a great weekend!....Maria

I sang both solo and as a member of a choir, and I must say, there have been far fewer things that I have enjoyed more. Because of illness affecting my lungs, plus old age. I can no longer sing like I used to. But I still love to hear those who can sing. Your poem stirred up some memories that have lain dormant for me for some time. I thank you for that.

Nomi, I too miss the fellowship of being in a choir, as a Bass voice I had some heavenly experiences so going my part from the old gospels.

I also sang base. For a time I was the only bass. my presence encouraged other bases to join.
