The author's words are heartfelt and as I listen to to the music I feel the
sadness and have empathy for your Goddaughter. Becky, and all of you. The author words once again, sadly, make me realize we all only have today. May God be with all of you at this difficult time. I like how the author ends each stanza.

To the extent that you keep his memory in your own heart, he will remain with you and help you in times when you need his guidance.
Your poem expresses your feelings effectively as its stanzas roll through the consequences of this event for those most directly affected. The last line in each stanza ties them all together, though the plea itself cannot be granted.
I will pray for all of you, particularly for the children, that all do not carry the bitterness of loss but rather the solace of fond memories.
Willie Nelson singing "Remember Me" is perfect for the accompanying video, and "Amazing Grace" always fits such circumstances. -- Mike

You are most welcome, Debi. Yes, Aaron's soul is safely in God's hands.
Now here is a song I wrote over fifty years ago, when I might have been drafted into a war from which I may not have returned, so I would have words to leave my beloved young wife and children in remembrance. I'm not a musician, but managed to set it to music. Blessedly, God timed events in my life to keep me out of that conflict. During the decades since then, I have recited it to many in grief over unexpected loss, as what their caring loved one might have said in parting.
