Your post made me smile. I didn't have a brother, but can relate to the early wrestling. I remember "Killer Kowalski" but that is dating myself.
Rod, how can I help you get one of your books self-published? Do it for yourself, or your family. I don't want anything from you, just trying to help a colleague. Sorry, to be a pest.
Best regards,
Dick

Dick, thank you so much for sharing my story. I, too, remember the old wrestling pros we watched on black & white TVs. I truly appreciate your support. I?m working on a thriller now. When it?s done, I might publish it and seek your help. Rod

Hi Rod... I like this cute story and it reminds me of my two brothers who were always mimicking the stunts on TV...there is a story of a boy taking a cap gun to first grade and during recess he hit another boy with the butt of gun because he wouldn't go to jail... the gun was banned from school and the teacher told him he watched too much TV... that boy was my husband LOL. I love your theme, well-written dialogue and art... good luck!!

Of course it is all fake except for the one in the neck hold. Clever use of Norman Rockwell's painting to inspire this flash. It is well written in 80 words and is a good entry for the contest.

Hi Rod :)
I enjoyed reading your flash fiction piece.
I like how you have all the detail in between the direct speech. It's like a sandwich!
Great finishing line - something one of the kids at school would say as they tightened their grip a little!
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes as always, Debra

It's all fake - including the pain you THINK you feel, Petey:-)

A nice use of 80 words, Rod. And the Norman Rockwell represents both your subject and an era.

Perfectly written, but that's no surprise coming from an English teacher:-)

Good luck in the contest.

Pam

Hi, Dolly. I?m glad you enjoyed this little bit of nostalgia. My best friend and I often "wrestled" like this and I always came out disheveled and hurting. Rod

I like the picture. This story has a good description of wrestling action.

When it comes to real action, you want to end it as fake.

That's a clever ending.

Oh no! When we were kids, we had warnings about not jumping off things like Batman etc. But now there are so many wild and violent things kids watch. I like your powerful commentary at the end about it being "fake" and yet that is why kids are misled about the seriousness about copying violent things that they see on TV. It's also funny because wrestlers have always been accused of "faking" maneuvers. But even they take quite a beating in creating those "fake" moves.
Best wishes in the contest!

Oh no, Petey's dead. You did a great job with your
contest entry. Your words were descriptive and
filled with action. The image was a great addition.
Yes, it seemed the boys would believe anything they
saw on tv.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan
