The flash fiction story grabbed my interest and the dialogue is believable. It's a good entry for the 50 Word Flash writing prompt contest. It's sweet.

Mother Earth is very generous , watermelon ( anguria in Italian) is a popular fruit in Summer. it s a healthy thirst quencher.
My best friend Lucia loves it.
I prefer to eat it as an appetiser with cheese (feta) or in a fruit salad. One can make really beautiful artistic forms as decorations too... its colours are vivid.
It doesn't appeal to me right now cause despite we are near the end of May, it's still cold and damp.
A delightful read but what really struck a chord was the heartfelt words about your mamma in notes section.
I'm sorry for your loss . I see your mamma had to deal with the covid pandemic too. ( sigh)
I'm glad you were able to be close to her.
Ps: I would advise also in your subtitle readers that there is more insight in note s section
Often they go unseen and that would be a shame.

My mom was a very fine woman.

I think she was an exceptional woman ..
I still can?t wrap my head around how many children she had and raised , all the work to clean and cook etc
and from what you have share your siblings all accomplished much.

My mom earned her college degree at age 57. Was a star athlete and very fine writer as well as a photographer. Besides being a mom to 9 children and twenty plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thanks for the vote.

Being a mother / raising children I believe is one of the hardest ?job ? possible
That said, I didn?t remember that you mentioned once in your notes that she had many other achievements so I apologised , it slipped my mind.
