That is a wonderful story. It flows so well, pulling the reader in, breaking their heart, then leaving them with a smile. I hope I am an inspiration to my grandbabies.

Hi, Mia ~ Thanks so much! Your comment about The Winner was so encouraging. I have 12 grandchildren, counting our step-grands. I don't know all of them as well as I'd like, and 5 of them are under elementary school age. But I hope to leave a tiny bit of wisdom and faith with each one of them, just as my grandmothers did for me. So I share your hope. :)
Blessings to you and those sweet littles of yours!
Deb

You made a giant point that every one of us can learn from in your post. No matter what we say or do, there are people watching, even those we never see, and they can learn and be steered in the right or wrong directions from our actions. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed your contest entry, Deb. You did a great
job with an interesting topic. I loved Grandma's
confidence in and encouragement of her granddaughter.
I liked the progression of time to when she was grown
and about to become POTUS. Yes, that would be historic,
and Grandma's watching from Heaven.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you for your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree - I believe God occasionally allows us a glimpse here to see His work in action and the results of our ministries and missions here.

Hooray for Gabi!! I think she could be POTUS if she wants to but it's more a figure head position and diplomatic. The cabinet members really make the key decisions.
Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I've watched each president in my lifetime as they've aged a decade in just half that time. Our family is full of leaders in various realms but I truly hope none of them ever goes into politics. I think it's a losing game.
Thanks for reading!

You're probably right about that

I like the way you encourage your granddaughter. I try to place a small note in my grandson's lunchbox each day. If I forget, he lets me know.
We don't know what the future holds for these kids, but it's good that we're helping to give them a chance to succeed. Blessings. Carol

Hi, Deb.
Great tale and wonderfully compressed into so few words.
You are right that we never know just how much influence our words will have. As a teacher I have been lucky enough to have more opportunity than most to influence young minds. No presidents or Prime Ministers yet that I know of, but certainly many success stories.

Hello, Steve ~
Success is what is important, not the title it gives. I was a teacher, as well. For some of mine, just graduating was a milestone of success that they never dreamed they'd achieve. My kids are all successful but in such different venues of life. It is its own measure.
Thank you for reading and for the kind comment. I appreciate it.

I remember hearing from my drinking mates, way back in my drinking days, saying, 'I could run this country better than this lot." (With a few expletives thrown in) my retort? 'If you were running this country, I'd migrate." I haven't had a drink for many years now, but I know what you mean, good luck, Deb, blessings Roy

I always fear that my oldest son will run for public office some far distant day. He's old enough now but has such radical views... I don't think he'd find much support in the established government. lol He'd want to cut their salaries in half, make them live with the same standards as us mere mortals, etc. lol And, yes, I might consider migration, myself! lol
Thank you for reading and for the kind comment. I appreciate it.
