Congratulations on your first milestone post! This was a funny story of an encounter with bullies. "Saint Ringo" was hilarious! I like that you ended about not caring for beetles after that. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

A fun post and I enjoyed your inventive words here and it is a pity that these bullies were jealous of your shiny shoes, we soon learn to deal with these types as time moves on. Paul was always my favourite, welcome to Fanstory, love Dolly x

Oh dear. I really do not like bullies. I hope this is a 100 word flash fiction and not an account of a bad memory from childhood. Sorry if it is. A well written piece on the nasty experiences at the hand of school bullies and their insecurities neatly expressed in 100 words. Well done.

It is a memory, but I laugh at it now.

Bullying in 1964! It is no wonder you don't like the Beatles. You have done a good job in telling this story in 100 words. It moves along quickly and has a good ending. There are a few typos that need correcting to make it shine. A good entry for the contest.

Hello :)
I enjoyed reading your story.
Good use of direct speech and great descriptive vocabulary - I particularly liked how you described the older girls.
Kids can be mean... especially to kids they're envious of.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

For consideration; I noticed a couple of typos - ' I cry and pule' (pull?), 'I forgo(t) what happens next'

Actually pule is a word. And I meant forgo. It's a play on words. thanks so much for your review.

This is a fun post, cleverly and humorously contained in this limited word count. However you lose me a bit in the final line - with forgo and beetles - I think I've got a problem with the word 'forgo' - do you actually mean refrain from and beetles - should this be Beatles? Sorry if I'm being slow here but I enjoyed this post. Good luck Debbie

Not being slow at all! I did mean refrain from the Beatles. And since she doesn't know who the Beatles are, she doesn't understand why she suddenly dislikes beetles. It's just silly, haha.

Oh, for those of us who can remember back to THAT year--1964-when our world changed because of four young men from England. I really like how you set the scene in a Catholic school, first grade, and a younger girl being grilled by three older ones. I could be that Speaker. Although I was twelve at the time, I didn't know those names either. Rod

It is so ironic how hatred can be given birth by some silly misunderstanding. It is much more difficult to remove it from a heart that had it implanted by the foolish actions of one who gave no thought as to its long term ramifications.
