Poodles do not shed which is a life saver. Usually long haired dogs do shed; and even some short haired dogs, too. So if you are going to shop around, get one that does not shed. Definitely the truth.

If this is true, and I ended up with a poodle, I have to undergo therapy, but if it was a laradoodle, then I would be handsomely pleased with the outcome.

That would be a test tube creation, I think. : )

No, it's a real breed but I misspelled it
    Labradoodle.

Oh, that's good! And I'm going through the fur thing right now with a pug. But she does seem to have a bladder of iron. Sweet, departed poodle, I did not love thee well enough!

My sister-in-law keeps getting poodles mixed with some micro-dog. They do not shed, but do every other negative thing known.

    Brains probably micro-sized or absent!

Oh yes, and I think that's the reason they have started to breed the poodle with other dogs, they don't shed their fur, the last dog we owned, we carried his fur all ove the world, but we loved him too much to "shed" him, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Lol. No dog is perfect. The one I chose was perfect in every way in terms of training, age, size, good with children and dogs, but I forgot to check about shedding as our last one didn't. Ah well. Excellent poem, humorous and cleverly written. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Wow, you make owning a dog unappealing lol. But I know what you mean. We have a long fur cat that leaves her hair around too.

I enjoyed reading your poem.

What's worse: the pee or the shedding? This was a fun and humorous sonnet. I enjoyed it very much, and I can relate. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Dear Poet, This is a very
charming and cute poem
about our furry friend's fur.
We have two dogs that shed,
and it can be a challenge to
keep up with it. A very
humorous sonnet with a
funny last two lines that
"bring it home." Happy Weekend! Good luck in the
contest. :)))))

Your sonnet made me chuckle because I know very well how hard it is to find a dog that does not shed.
I felt sorry for the yellow lab which was banished to a farm.
Good simile describing how collies and sheepdogs lose hair.
Content is fine, but your meter is inconsistent (all iambic except for lines 9 & 11) and your closing couplet uses the same rhyme as 5 & 7).

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Guilty on both counts it seems, Rod. I will see if I can adjust the meter and find new rhyme. Thank you for the alert.

Love the subject here, the metre, the rhymes and the humour, this sonnet has it all, much enjoyed, a great post for the contest.

for the sake of metre, just a small adjustment on this line:

(and) finally, a poodle was selected,
