Your orange crush seems to be an ode to the Almighty Autumn that is just across the corner. I particularly like it this stanza:"Black, brown profound deathly blight
Indifferent hand
Thoughtless toss plan
Orange peel land" Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Thank you for this. What a creative way to talk about a forest fire. The imagery is elevated with every line and the poem flows well throughout nearly all of it.

There is some great description in your minute poem of 'the land recoils' and 'hot air floats black.' An apt title for your piece. Though I think you will need to check your rhyme scheme. I believe the minute poem calls for an aabb, ccdd, eeff rhyme scheme. Yours is an abbb, accc, addd rhyme scheme. I also suggest checking your meter as it should be iambic throughout. Best wishes in the contest.

I thank you so much for your comments and for your kind review, and for your advice. Does it does not need to follow the lambic meter? Specifically, only that it carries 60 syllables and that it rhymes.
Check, thank you very much for that and also thank you for your kind rating. I hope that your day is amazing!

Sorry. I checked about the meter, and you are correct. It does not require the iambic meter. Even though I've read it now a few times, I'm still not sure about the rhyme. I will change your rating though.

Another one! Just brilliant, tight use of language. This, for me, is what poetry should do. Easy, unforced use of the rhyme and the form. Some phrases that absolutely stick in the gut. I think 'tree blood quick boils' is my favourite. Thank you. John

I enjoyed the sentiment here Lea carelessness causes fires. You need to check the rhyme scheme as I believe it s AABB for the contest, so your poem will need an adjustment, love Dolly x

Contact said that we didn't have to follow it but as long as we had rhyme and that we followed the strict syllable count. I mean I'll already read it and have a check. Thank you for blooking up for me I appreciate it! Thank you for your review. Hope the sun's out where you are!

Dear poet, this is a well penned poem about a tragic
forest fire that happens too
often. California also has
tragic fires. It seems never-
ending. I'm so saddened for the
loss of trees and many
animals. My very best wishes
for the contest. Blessings ~

Thank you Regina for your kind and insightful have watched California's devastation over the years and watch it come to us too. It's a nasty pattern nur seeing globally in many waystronger storms drier droughts hotter days bigger fires the year after the fire happened here. All of our highways washed out you're stuck all over the problems not being able to move. All 5 major highways washed out with no roots to hold the soil. The soil slips off the earth like an orange peel takes everything with it as it goes. Thank you again Regina for your time and for your thoughtful comment. I hope all is well for you in california have a great day!

Fantastic poem once again. The colour scheme is spot on and the last line is so unique, "orange peel land", how very poetic. Your poem reminded me of the frequent bushfires we have here in Australia. Thank you for sharing Lea. Jacqueline xx
