Your post is very analytical to be a poem but it's definitely a unique style. Cool presentation. Good dialogue with alter ego.

Thanks Gypsy:
I was inspired by Goethe's Faust, The conversation between Dr. Faust and Mephistopheles(Devil), attracted me to the style of conversational poetry. The English translator is Walter Arndt, and Editor is Cyrus Hamlin.
I like your quote of Atticus. His polemical style appears to be present in my poem but that is a coincidence. All the best.

Hi Niyuta,
only you and your alter ego?
Sounds as if a few more sides of you and other ego's jumped into this conversation.
The interesting correlation, is that we as humans... well at least I do; have had and do have these conversations with the other parts of us... hmmmm, or is it just the singular who believes there are others?
I enjoyed it, not only an interesting read, but an entertain one.
I found myself smiling, and that can't be a bad thing, right?
Clever construction, nice presentation.
With our thoughts we create...
the narrative of all ourselves.
Kind regards,
James.

Dear James: Your words have given me so much joy that I can't wipe the smile off my face. I wish to give credit to Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe whose monumental work " Faust" gave me the inspiration. Dr. Faust meets Mephistopheles(Devil) and their conversation is so uniquely cynical and humorous that I began thinking and the conversation with the alter ego began to form in my head. I hope you too will begin conversation with the Self , I appreciate your comments and ratings very much.
Best regards,
Arun

Oh Arun... I'm constantly having in depth conversations with myself... well, I think it's myself?
Sounds like a great and interesting story, or conversation. I may have to visit Dr Faust... thank you!
Hope your day/evening is a good one.

I hope you get a competently translated version. It is a German Drama and needs keen interest in the classical literature. Faust is profound but gets tiresome. Good luck.
-
Thank you Arun, since I don't speak nor read German It will definitely have to be a fully translated version... and tiresome don't phase me, if it's worth the ride.
-
Ah! The devil in me that wish to bargain with me for my soul and give me the life of legendary 'Dorian Gray' of Oscar Wild,
I agree, reading translated classics is a laborious, and tiresome business. Thanks,

I don't believe evil can control anything, unless one wants it to! But good is also in the same ballpark, doing good is simple, being kind, compassionate, thoughtful, always smiling at someone, whereas evil is likewise obvious, it's not difficult at all, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. I appreciate your comments and ratings. Good and evil are two faces of a coin. When one is absent the other appears. Many thanks. With regards,
Arun

Most welcome

In one sense Roy, you ate right about evil or good controlling our lives. Good and Evil are assigned values, and we are doing that job by creating systems like religions, ethical standards and commandments etc. There is no evil or good in the realm of any other species. Anything that benefits one party becomes good and the others who do not get benefits, the same good becomes evil. Take care and thanks for sharing your thoughts. With regards,
Arun

Good or evil, remain a choice. You mean if I give you alms that?s not good?
-
Alms giving is a virtue in many religions but it is depending on the individual's attitude towards the act. "I like the way a statement attributed to Jesus that says, "Let not your left hand know what the right hand giveth," I personally do not give alms but I try to give a helping hand without the receiver knowing who has extended it. My teacher used to say, "an alms giver's hand is up and receiver's is below; it gives ego trip to the giver, and inferiority to the receiving person."
It's a paradox one has to deal with.
Thanks.

Hmm I feel the very humility expressed in self reflection, could only be shone by a good person. So, the contest ends there for me. The very act of internalizing ones self and reflecting, raised ones goodness, in my mind. I believe God made me in His Image so, furthermore and henceforth, and carry the eight, and tie it in a bow. The introspective person is good and the ego looses. lol Good and interesting writing!

Okay, this is humorous in nature, yet wonderfully constructed.
You produced an enjoyable piece of work here.
This line made me laugh:
Indeed! It's you-the Latin spitting, and vain amigo"
If your goal was to write an entertaining, eye-catching piece, you succeeded.

Thanks Douglas Golf. I was inspired while reading Gaethe's, Faust. The Mephistopheles Bargain has such a humorous cynicism that words started forming in my mind and style of dialogues between Dr. Faust and Mafisto I seem to have adopted. Thanks again for your encouraging comments and rating.
