So you married the cool guy with the coolest car? The song Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf went through my musical head whilst reading this. {Smiling.}

I'm glad you resisted Mr. Nova and went on to protect your sweet Michelle and from getting arrested! I can't imagine!

Jack had a '67 Mustang and taught me to drive a stick shift. I preferred to drive a stick until I gave up my driver's license in 2009. My two oldest brothers drove in stock car races for years. I remember going to The Daytona 500 with Mike when I stayed with him and his family for a couple of weeks.

We certainly have come from the muscle car generation. A great true story of the near arrest. Whew!

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

    Oh Sally, I was a bit of a wild child, wasn't I?? I thank you so much for you awesome review and kind words that you honor me with for my story. Also thank you for the gift of six stars.
    Lol, I still don't feel too bad about the wave to the guy since he shouldn't have tried to coerce a woman into racing, especially back in those days. Thanks again for this sweet review package, my dear friend. You can't possibly know how much it means to me.

Wow, what a story. The folly of youth, but how admirable of you and your husband to keep your promises and be safe. You capture the thrill of the race, the youthful exuberance, matched by your sobriety of thought. Good story.

Hi Debi, I was laughing when I read how you waved to the guy being arrested. It was a fun story, and there is something to say for a fast car. I have owned a couple of very fast cars and it gave me much joy when some guy thought he would be first when the lights changed, and all he saw was my back tyres. And then I slowed down to a moderate speed. I had made my point. Childish I know, but I loved it.
The best of luck. Ulla xx

    Hi Ulla, I was a bit of a wild child back then, wasn't I? Haha! I loved your story too. Makes me feel like I have a little bit of a rebel sister here. Lol...

It sounds really exciting, my wife is very cautious, although we did own a beautiful canary yellow V8 ford, with broad fat tyres, but I sold it when we bought a Beautful red, black and white bus to tour with our newly formed gospel group. Beautifully written Debi, blessings Roy

    Hi Roy, I was a bit of a wild child back then wasn't I?? Lol....Yet, it was good for me to get that lifestyle out of my system before starting a family. I love that you had a fast one too, but although I talked about it being a thrill at that time, I too was very cautious and had promised not to engage in it. But I do admit it was truly fun to wave at the guy when he was put into the cop car.
    After all, he was the one who decided to race. Thanks again my sweet and awesome friend dear!

I had to laugh at the part of you waving at the man who was trying to get you to race, and seeing him being put in the back of the police car. That must have been so satisfying. I'm afraid I did race, but not in that way. I often drove powerful cars in my younger days, and it was nothing to have men try to get by me, but I wouldn't give them the chance, I would shoot off and watch them try to catch me. I had that 'rush' as well. I wouldn't do that now, but the desire doesn't go away. I'm glad you didn't take that chance, it would be a risk to the baby you were carrying. I really enjoyed your story, Debs, it brought back some long ago hidden memories of my own. Good luck in the contest! Love Sandra xx

    Oh Sandra, my sweet friend I thank you. How fun is that to know that I have another little rebel friend. Maybe rebel isn't the word, but kinda fun loving and got a rush out of things like that. You are awesome, but then I knew that already. As one of my first friends here, I get excited to see your reviews when I write prose, instead of poetry. After all you are the queen in my book when it comes to stories of any kind. Thanks Hon!! Love ya! Debi
