Hi Sandra,
Thanks for the health update. Sorry you have long haul COVID. Hopefully it will clear soon. So, have the new lenses lessened the headaches?
I can understand you waiting to do the long chapters of your book.
We won't forget you.
Joan

Hi Joan, thank you. At least I now know why I'm always tired among other things, so I can cope better. And yes, my new glasses are wonderful. I went to a new optician and had a really good eye examination. I have cataracts in both eyes, my left eye is worse than my right. But I have to wait until the cataract are thicker before they will use the laser on them. But the lenses they have given me, are marvelous! I'm not getting the headaches anymore. Thank you for asking, my friend. I'm off to bed now. Have a lovely week. :)) Sandra xx

    You're welcome, Sandra.
I am glad your headaches are gone and that you are seeing better. I am playing the same waiting game for cataract surgery.

I don't know how they know when the cataracts are 'thick enough' do you? xxx
reply by dragonpoet on 23-May-2023
    No I don't.
The optometrist I saw said mine were thick enough. But when I went to see the cataract surgeon for a second opinion, he said they weren't.

The wonders and joys of getting old.

Long Covid is bad enough. Glad it is not any form of cancer.

Be looking for your newest book.

Hang in there. What more can one do?

I dunno, Sandra... If you're like me, your brain doesn't need an excuse to crack up. :o (Love ya', girl!)
I'm sorry you're still experiencing so much but am glad they think it will end. Paryers are still being lifted to our Father for you, sweetheart.
Blessings and hugs,
Deb

No, mine cracks up all the time! Lol. Thank you, Debs. It is getting easier, but the aches, and the smell is what gets to me the most. I'm resting up for a while, not posting yet. Thanks, sweet friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xx
reply by DeboraDyess on 07-May-2023
You might try peppermint cream or essential oil right under your nose for the smells. Of course, if your brain is interprerting smells incorrectly, it also might smell like a catbox. lol I HOPE NOT!
    Hugs and blessings, sweet friend.

You poor soul - the symptoms sound horrendous! At least you know that your suffering has a name, which is hopefully some consolation. As we get older, various things can cause so much concern because we often think the worst.
Forget you? Not possible, I'm sure!

I've never taken this long to recover from an illness before, but this Covid just refuses to leave me. Now I've been diagnosed with Long Covid, that explains all my symptoms, and I know they will pass one day. Thank you so much, Sanku, for all the prayers, love and hugs, I've never felt so blessed. Sending love and hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Oh, my dear, dear friend! I am so sorry you are ill (still) -- yep, that diagnosis explains why...

Sandy, forgive me -- this review really is commentary only -- I'm too upset. You are in my prayers, lovely friend, and I will be sure to tell my prayer group too.

XXXOOO Get well!

I'm very glad you don't have a brain tumor, and I hope you feel better soon. I'm looking forward to your new book. Hopefully I can wait a couple of weeks while you take care of yourself and recover.

Thank you, dear Cindy. I'm being well looked after, not allowed to do too much. (hmm) Now I know what my problems are, I'm able to rest easier. I'm already writing, but won't have much ready to post for another two weeks. Thanks my friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xx

You have certainly been through it. I'd never heard of Long Covid before, but with the symptoms you named, they could have been attributed to any number of diseases. I had cataracts removed from both eyes and had no difficulty with the procedure. My optometrist kept telling me to wait, but all of a sudden the eye got really bad. I probably should have had the cataract removed sooner. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. You're probably run down by now and need to build your strength up. You're wise to get back into posting too soon. It'll still be there. Best of luck to you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. judi

Thank you, Judi. I can get better, and that was what I wanted to know. So many others didn't and still don't. Covid has left its mark on so many people, and families. I'm just taking it slow and easy. I'll still read and review. But I don't think I'll be posting for another couple of weeks. Thank you so much for your kindness, dear friend. How are you now? Still early days. Love and hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Oh no, that is a terrible piece of news, and I am sorry to hear it. So much of the pleasure of daily living goes out the window when one suffers from such symptoms. I hope you will recover quickly and be able to have more energy and pleasure for doing the things you enjoy. Sending hugs and best wishes from Australia.

Aw thank you, Wendy. I don't know how long it will carry on for, but I'll rest a lot, and take some short walks and hope to build on them. I'll be back writing after a week of two, I'm getting bored already. I've found it is easier to cope with now I know what I have. I was imagining all sorts of terrible illnesses. Thank you for the hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Oh, Sandra! Long Covid? Sorry to hear this.
As I read your symptoms I was thinking many may well have this, but are attributing fatigue, muscle aches to something else. (Like me --getting older!

This golden years stuff is for the birds, if you ask me.

I wonder, is there a definitive test to establish this diagnosis? Or a treatment?

I had covid. (Twice!)

Who knows what's lingering?

I hope your symptoms abate soon.

Thank you, Karenina. I don't know which test they took gave them the answer. They did so many Xrays, blood tests, breathing tests, loads of things. I was actually just thankful they had an answer for me, now my overactive imagination can go back to sleep again!! Lol. At least I can still come on here and read and review. I can also write but will do it slowly for a while.
As for 'Who knows what's lingering...' That is a good question. This Covid doesn't want to go away. It's rather scary. No, the golden years are best described as tarnished brass!!

Thank you, my friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

Even my own physician was "asea" when I inquired about post covid... She made it sound like some stubborn "lingering cold" and I KNOW it is so much more than that! You are wise to listen to your body and read and review at a pace that is fulfilling but not taxing. Post when you will... The most important thing is to take care of yourself!

That's the trouble, we don't get straight answers until something happens. I really don't think they know what happens post Covid. It's not right, is it? How are you now? 😊xxx
reply by karenina on 02-May-2023
You know? As an RN (retired of course) anyone would think I'd have a better handle on all of this stuff. My nose runs CONSTANTLY ever since covid...and I am frequently fatigued, (also I suddenly get muscle cramps, which I haven't had since my pregnancy days...you know, back in the age of the dinosaurs?) I'm one of many who tend to attribute this to old age, or allergies...or (well not pregnancy--smile)--- As you said, long covid may be exactly the issue (or one of them!) It's getting older that does it! When are we NOT in some pain, I ask you? LOL... I would welcome ANY doctor who would just throw up their arms and say "I don't have a clue" (So much easier to swallow than all the pretend knowledge!) (Am I venting? I am!)
    :)
reply by the author on 02-May-2023
No, you're not venting, you're stating the truth. The symptoms I have are just a few of what Long Covid is. I would say go and get it checked out, but we both know that's not easy, unless you're lucky enough to have a clever one!! We oldies just have to do what we always do, try to work through it, and perhaps then it will go. xxxx

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO agree. It takes a decree from the king to get an actual "in person" appointment these days. I'm tired of having "phone physicals." The doc asks "So how are you?" and I retort-- "Shouldn't YOU be telling ME?"

    Oh my!
