Uh oh, I sense some sadness coming up! I guess St. Andrews is so revered, not only because it is the original, historical course, but because it is so darned difficult. And uncomfortable. Well, Fore! Julie x

Good instincts, however, I hope you end with a chuckle.

This was the masterful type of chapter I've grown to expect from you on a sport that few writers choose to explore. You've developed the characters of Kenny and Eddie so well that competition takes on a meaning that goes beyond golf. I know you are building to a dynamic climax ... and if you do it earlier in the week, I'll be able to award it more aptly.

Thanks very much, Jay. Let's figure on Sunday or Monday for the final chapter.

Another great chapter on the final major game of Eddie's life. I may not understand the game, but I do understand the sharing of a life about to be cut short by illness. Well written.

Wow. What a way to complete the course, with two amazing putts.

Go Eddie... Go Eddie...

These two have a great friendship which had lasted decades! To be so lucky!

Great posts, Jim. I'm sorry to see there's only one chapter left.

Cheers, John

Thanks, John. I'm kinda sad about it too. This was the first piece of fiction I ever wrote, and I still have a great fondness for it.

I know the challenges of golf can be compared to the changes in life, and Eddie got to win this challenge, but not the challenge of days. A friend and former neighbour came to visit the other day, and said he was dying of cancer, (thst awful disease) he was given eight months to live, that was eight months to live...that was eight months ago, just to prove the doctors wrong, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I'm glad they were wrong in your friend's case, Roy. I hope they are way wrong and that he has a few more years yet.

Me too, I will intercede for him. Bless you Jim.

We need more golf stories on here. To shoot a 79 at St. Andrews would be amazing. What a wonderfully written story. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.

So glad you've been enjoying it, Mike. I do have a couple of golf short stories that I will post in the near future. Thanks so much for the good review and the 6 stars.

I was cheering for Eddie myself. Thank you for sharing him with us. He's a great character and a great story.

Our tee time the next day was at 1:00 pm. (the following day)

Thank you, Barbara. You've been a loyal follower of this story from the beginning. It will be sad to see it end in a few days. I do have a couple more short stories with these characters to share, though, which I will do soon.

If nothing else the tale of Eddie's last two putts was worth the price of admission, so you have earned six stars. Bravo Zulu. Now to put the cap on this enjoyable read. Do it!

You're very kind, Tom. I always wished I could putt half as well as Eddie, but I never did in my golfing career except for occasional rounds which were too few and far between. Thanks greatly for the 6 stars.
