Hi Debbie, this is a wonderful tribute to your brother on his seventieth, and thank you so much for sharing it with us. Of course there will be some we don't understand, but that's how it should be. I'm sorry you lost to of your siblings at such a young age. Ulla xx

This was a sweet comment on family. The repetition of recall at the end of each stanza linked different anecdotes together. I would fix just one line, just for parallel structure's sake, "Joyce remembers catching frogs and put them in a pail." Maybe "Joyce remembers catching frogs and putting them in pails," just to keep the verb tense the same. I liked this line, "You didn't think about yourself, or if you would survive : )" I appreciate the smiley face, to show us it's a joke, and not sad foreshadowing. Teaching someone else to drive can be nerve wracking. I was the first to start teaching my younger brother to drive. My mom didn't want to.

I did make that change because that line didn't feel right from the start and it seems when you hear it from someone else, it almost changes itself. Hey Sweetie, I thank you so much for the wonderful review and sweet six stars to match who you are! We did have a wonderful day yesterday with us remaining siblings and then spent much of the night and morning on another birthday poem. I am feeling so pulled about your birthday tomorrow. Since I wrote the one for you not that long ago, I have no problem writing another, yet there are those who sometimes say we target certain people and leave others out. And yet, not sure I care what those people say, but do know I would like to get to far more than I already do. So I just need to think on it a little bit more. My heart would already be writing it if it already. I am excited tho for you and I bet your girls have some fun surprise planned for mommy. And I will just say this, that one way or another, I will have some kind of surprise for you. Thanks again, to my dear one that seems like a young daughter, and am so blessed by your friendship and by the gift of you.

This is, of course, also a lovely tribute to the birthday boy - pretty much my own age. I'm sure he loved your words.
