This was a silly waste of a jury's time, and the verdict isn't as obvious as you think. It is just a story, and is a bit amusing, but why the couple sued each other is weird. This is well written and very like what happens in a courtroom.

    Thank you.
And as you say - weird, but just a story.
I didn't like the idea of airing real quibbles in public, so I made up a non-real one.

What a trial, bedroom drama. A dog can be a great companion for a couple. If he's a retriever, they are kind of big, to sleep in a bed unless they have a king size bed.

Even a tiny dog can get in the way of romance.

This is what happens when the dog is boss and takes advantage of the kind hearts of his owners. Fido definitely should have been the one on trial. Hopefully his two subjects manage to sneak one in occasionally.

Well it seems there is really no loss of affection and the couples are just a little poorer for going to the expense of hiring attorneys. No 40 pound dog should be allowed to come between the obviously affectionate couples.

Very humorous, funny and quite a debate!! I think Dale was the more convincing to me. But, it seems that very early on, the reciprocal smiles, winks etc, I thought there would be a dismissal of the case.
Good luck for the contest

Well, this seems more of a job of a marriage counselor rather than that of a real court. It seems that Dale and Doreen really love each other and need to be more clever than Fido. Best wishes in the contest!

both dale and Doreen (Dale)
"Who's idea was it to get Fido?" (Whose)

Wayne, This is a very cute and well written script. You used very good dialogue and very good descriptive words. I can understand what happened. If they kept looking and smiling at each other as you said case closed! lol Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Lol. Well why don't they now solve the problem themselves by retraining Fido and / or getting a friend for Fido and keeping them out of the bedroom. I think their connection is still very much there and they can both take a bit of blame for being too soft on Fido. Best wishes for the contest.

    Thank you.
But alas, it is not in 'script' format and will likely be DQed.
reply by Wendy G on 25-Apr-2023
Oh no. Can you quickly change it?
reply by the author on 25-Apr-2023
I could have yesterday, but I really didn't want to sacrifice what I thought to be a good story for the sterility of a script.
With a LOT of work I probably could have done it right, but there were so few entries, the payoff wouldn't be worth the effort.

This was fun to read and I'm sure it was fun to write, Wayne. As long as you are not harboring any expectations of winning the script contest, I'd say that this was exceptionally done. With only the lack of capitalizing "Dale" in the first paragraph, there were no major distractions. Since you refuse to format it as a script, however, well you know what that means. But you made us all smile. And that ain't bad.

This was fun to read. Maybe they should get a second dog so Fido has a companion and could sleep outside their room. It looks like the couple will be making up and move on.
You create a believable courtroom scene. The lawyers seem to cut the witnesses off as soon as they get the answer they want. No need to elaborate and maybe mess up the point.

A second dog is probably the right answer, but then they would get the whole couch, or be too involved with each other to sit for being a comfort companion.

You might be right. I always get a brother and sister when I get puppies. That way they have each other when I leave for the day. They sleep together and I've never had them on the furniture.
