I pray your daughter is doing much better, Elizabeth.
I'm happy you were there for her. What a sad response
from hubby and friends. You gave readers a great picture
of the aftermath of the issue. What I didn't read was a twist
at the end, though I might've missed it.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you for your excellent review. Yes, my daughter is doing much better now. I wrote this wen she was in the rehab hospital and we didn't know how much progress she would make, if any. I'm happy to say that she now lives with us full-time after her divorce. She has 50/50 custody of her daughter and is picking up the pieces of her life as best she can. She is in a wheelchair, but can walk short distances with a cane. Her main issue is memory. She has very extensive short-term memory loss. However, she has a great attitude about everything and jokes that she suffers from CRS (Can't Remember Shit). Hope you don't mind the cursing :-). Thanks again for your kind words. By the way, there was no twist at the end.

This was heartbreaking. I cannot imagine being abandoned by my family after something like this. I am glad she has you. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Isn't it sad that so-called friends can't or won't find the patience and tenderness needed for a friend, when they need it the most. I know that your daughter's feelings of abandonment are real and painful as she struggles with her altered reality. I pray she will find comfort

That doesn't seem fair somehow. Abandonment when we are social creatures is almost the ultimate insult and proof that when things turn around for them, it will be earned and deserved, my sympathy, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Thank you for your review. No, life isn't always fair. Yet, my daughter, despite her husband's abandonment, has an amazing attitude now.

I love that she has, no need to let them succeed!

i know the theme and main point is abandonment - however, you used "abandonment" twice and also "abandoned" in such a short story; my suggestion is to maybe find a synonym for those three words, so the one place for the word "abandonment" is the title which would make it stand out more...

just some thoughts as i read this.

thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest
shelley :)
