Love your metaphor of the ocean as the spirit is in life's storms with the pull of unseen forces. You describe the spirit's internal struggles well. I see this is both for the Napo chapter and the Free verse contest. Best wishes in both contests!

I thought the meter in the short lines really captured the rhythm of the waves rolling across the sea in succession. It is all quite peaceful, and your image of the dancer dancing over the waves in the moonlight is dreamlike and surreal, removed from the far off continents and their troubles. It's a great image, romantic and dreamy. Behind it all is this of connection to the sea, the moon that pulls the tides, almost like a moon pulling your thoughts and moods. estory

I very much enjoyed this complex poem that reminded me constantly how complex light weaving through the ocean is. First of all it reminded me of that wonderful Pink Floyd LP Dark Side Of The Moon, but secondly it made me think of all the treasures that can be found in the sea: pirates gold or beautiful shells amongst many others. Thanks for sharing. kay

The relationship between the ocean and the moon is highlighted here. This is beautifully written and presents the power that nature has to spark questions. A terrific contest entry, thanks for sharing.

The imagery in this poem is powerful, as the ocean is presented as a vast, mysterious force that inspires awe and reverence. The idea of the ocean as a "vast canvas of blue that radiates an illusion" is particularly striking, as it reminds us that even the most seemingly stable and predictable aspects of the natural world are subject to change and transformation. Great post and good luck in the contest

Though there may be chaos around us that causes some stress and turmoil, we can maintain inner peace by keeping in tune to the rhythm of nature. The sun, moon and stars can inspire us to reflect our own thoughts and emotions - our light. Your poem gives us much food for thought.

well, that is very deep. I admit I never think of cosmic connections, but whatever thoughts relax the mind and produce a sense of calm is a good thing. In my case, I have to not listen to the news, and instead, read a good book while listening to beautiful music. Beautiful classical music, I love.
Your thoughts in your poem obviously mean a lot to you and help when needed. That's good.

I used to live at the beach in summers, but that was a long time ago. But you're right, the sound of the ocean is mesmerizing and relaxing.

Yes, indeed, as the distant sun is reflected off the moon's surface, so we can be the reflection that comes off the Lord, the light of the world. This is beautifully conversant with the wanderings and murmurings of the ocean, this is one your best dear Jessica, blessings Roy

Hi Jessica,
This free verse uses metaphor and alliteration to keep the poem flowing.
This waves are your thoughts moving through your mind. I think we all search for deeper faith either in ourselves or God. The night sky is a good place to ponder. I like that you bring in the sun at the end to remind us that all things are intertwined.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest.
