This is a beautiful photo and poem, but we haven't had spring yet here. Evidently mother nature decided to dump some snow on the ground yesterday. Schools are either closed or two hours late today.

We had a week of Spring with temperatures in the 80s. Today it snowed and we?ll be in the 30s all day. Many thanks for your complimentary review of my haiku, Rosemary.

I like how your poem shows that the treasure in the hills is ruby and gold... and your photo choice is a well chosen accompaniment.
'August Treasure' as your title makes this poem definitely a northern hemisphere one. Here in New Zealand it is autumn already.

Hi, Lisa. We were blessed with a week of perfect weather that allowed us to really enjoy Spring?s arrival. I hope you enjoy your Autumn. Many thanks for your kind praise of my haiku.

August seems a little early for that many trees to have turned colour, but how would I know - the furthest I have ventured north of the equator is one degree of latitude (Singapore).
Ruby, gold, treasure all add up to create a rich image to match the artwork here.
Well done and good luck.

A good 5/7/5, an ode to autumn with the theme and wonder of autumn, which I associate with Christ's death on the cross, winter as the grave dwelling, and then the resurrection of spring, and summer, the glory of life, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Discover Autumn
treasure in these tree-filled hills--
ruby leaves of gold
i have read so many really good autumn haiku in this contest!

one suggestion - maybe try a light green background and and a red or orange font? just a thought
thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest
